How To: Mount Panels to an RV Roof

This is the best write up on the Internet that I have found about how to mount the solar panels. Most everything else is something along the lines of "mount panels to roof with appropriate fasteners and butyl tape". Thanks so much for taking the time to write this up. I used self tapping screws...

    Travel Trailer (1660w Solar, 2400w Inverter, 608ah LiFePO4)

Do you mean less flammable? I'm not trying to be a tart about it, I'm honestly curious as I am undertaking my own build soon. I was planning on plywood, but I wouldn't call it nonflammable - if you have a better recommendation I am all ears! :-)

Solar Build for Travel Trailer - Requesting Help

This comment is so incredibly helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I knew there was some loss, but I didn't know these specifics. I recognize that the information is out there, but sequencing it all into something that makes sense to me is proving to be the difficult part. How do...

    Travel Trailer (1660w Solar, 2400w Inverter, 608ah LiFePO4)

This is beautiful. Thanks so much for writing it up and photographing the process - very helpful! I adore the labeling. I have a label maker and I love it - and now I have found another use for it. Because in three months, it'll all be a distant memory, and when I need to fix something...labels...

Solar Build for Travel Trailer - Requesting Help

We've not needed the A/C or the microwave a lot (we tend to travel in the fall), but if we had more flexibility with batteries, maybe we would have more flexibility with locations? Good to think about! (y) Heh, yah, the wiring part - I needed to work more on that. Luckily some helpful folks...

Solar Build for Travel Trailer - Requesting Help

Hah, we spent hours last night trying to figure that out. Glad to hear it. I was *really* worried that I had totally misunderstood how this all works. Thanks for the tips on the wire - I will check that out. I was trying to keep the price down, but if it comes at the expense of safety, it's...

Solar Build for Travel Trailer - Requesting Help

Yes, me as well. We actually use fairly little power (we cook using the propane and we have a propane oven, and it is rather efficient). The water is the hitch, and I love our toilet and don't want to be toting pee everywhere (my best friend has a composting toilet they love, converted their...

Solar Build for Travel Trailer - Requesting Help

Wow! Looks excellent! I read quite a bit about a 24V system, but decided that it would be simpler (in my own head, possibly not reality) to do the 12V setup. Also, this, like all projects started out very small, and then, it grew. :-) Thanks so much for sharing your plan, I've downloaded it so I...

Solar Build for Travel Trailer - Requesting Help

Wow, 10 hours for an AC is impressive. And using it in a house is a huge plus. I am sorry about my odd reply. I started it on my phone and realized using my laptop would be a better choice. In the middle of going to get the laptop, I knocked over a quart of vegetable oil which spilled under my...

Renogy 40A Rover MPPT Charge Controller & 200W Rich Solar Panels

Thank you so much for your reply! I think that in my other post, the link clicked through to an Amazon page for the Rover which had specs for the 20A version. Hence the confusion as a 20A version would not work with the 2-200W panels. Excellent to read about the T-fuse and location! Thank you!

Solar Build for Travel Trailer - Requesting Help

I’m happy to make changes and would love feedback. I’ll provide some info, feel free to ask questions if I don’t answer yours. Basically we’d like to be able to boondock for an unspecified amount of time. I’m guessing around a week would be ideal, but I’m probably more limited by blacktank...

Renogy 40A Rover MPPT Charge Controller & 200W Rich Solar Panels

Greetings, trying to sort out my solar install. Was told elsewhere that the CC I have isn't correct, but I think it might actually be okay. Can someone explain what specs don't line up for the following equipment? 2 RICH SOLAR 200 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panels Renogy 40A Rover MPPT Charge...

Solar Build for Travel Trailer - Requesting Help

I understand. I am thankful for the second set of eyes as this has been pretty much all me up to this point, and I needed to get it out of my head and onto paper. I feel super dumb that I selected the wrong charge controller and didn't realize that it would not work - I am going to go...
