Bumping this to update - edited for typos and grammar errors.
I was offered the opportunity to rescue an almost new 36k heat-pump split system (3 heads) from a house scheduled for demolition. The condenser is a Mitsubishi MX2-3C30NAZ that was just over a year old, and the cost was ideal - free...
Bumping this thread for a couple of reasons.
One is to thank @chrisski for the response and suggestions.
The second is to say that I've decided to do things in stages, starting with buying the Lycan. As of this date (9/5), Renogy is offering them for $3,200. That seems to be a pretty good deal...
I understand that the question is difficult in the absence of more detail, and I appreciate all of the advice and suggestions.
While the tracker system has a wind sensor will tilt the array to horizontal, even assuming that works quickly and reasonably well, the bending moment can still be...
I'm wondering if I can use something like this Renogy 36V/48V Rover Boost 10A MPPT Solar Charge Controller to boost the voltage from 12v panels as an interim charging solution for the Lycan?
I posted much of this in another part of the Forum, specifically looking for help with mobile mounting. Now that I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on the equipment, I need some help with a few more things, hence the new post.
The basic background is that I'm planning to add a battery...
Another interim update.
To date, I thought that I would need only to power a refrigerator, modem/router, a Hue hub and assorted lights with a battery generator. I failed to include my well pump, which is a 240v device. This would mean I'd need two Lycans, which is prohibitively expensive.
As...
Thanks @Hedges.
I don't yet have the tracker, but at $370, the cost is not much greater than the hardware for a static mount. I realize that the cost of solar panels is now down in the range where it is more cost-effective to add panels rather than optimize your array with tracking. My issue is...
Greetings all - new member here. My search of the forum was unsuccessful in turning up much helpful information (possibly due to user ignornance rather than actual lack of information), so apologize if this has been covered in previous threads. In basic terms, I'm looking for some ideas for...
A question for @landship shane - would you mind sharing some details on fabricating the tilting rack?
Some background about the request (editorial note: I'm a relatively newbie to the solar world, and like many, have found Will's videos very helpful.). We have a small vacation house in the...
Thanks to all for the replies.
A question about voltage drop: the recommendation is that it should be kept under 3%. If the voltage at the end of the run is still within the controller's operating range, why is a drop of over 3% a concern, particularly if it's only marginally more than that?
I'm in the process of purchasing the same Eco Worthy tracking kit and started a different thread asking about Sonotube mounting. Don't want to hijack this thread, but wanted to post the feedback that I got, and ask a related question.
The responses received from my post suggested that a tube...
I have four ET Solar ET-M572175 Solar Panel 175 W panels that I want to mount. The panels are several years old, but they are brand-new, actually still in the original packaging and were quite inexpensive. Due to limited space, I think I'd like to use something like the ECO-WORTHY Solar Panel...
