I've built one simple 24v solar system, but I'm not a sophisticate. Now I'm upgrading that system by building a 24v battery bank. (24 EVE 280 Ah, 3.2v batteries...8 batteries in series for 3 24v batteries.) The solar guy who did a big system for me is telling me to use the Batrium K9, Batrium Core, fuses...the whole deal. But the process seems VERY complicated (creating the connectors, wiring the fuses and all the Batrium components). The Overkill BMS that Will recommends seems much simpler. Am I giving up too much to go with the Overkill BMS?

No.
I've been running 3 JBDs in 16s and 2 in 4s with no issues. JBD makes a solid BMS and Overkill is an excellent company.
The only thing you are giving up is active balancing; a proper top balance and frequent full charges will help negate any issues with out of balance cells for a while.
I would run 3 separate Overkill, 1 for each pack all paralleled to a dedicated high quality bus bar. I would also run a class T fuse for each pack, as close to the main positive of each pack as possible. Some will argue a class T is overkill for 24V, it's cheap insurance.

Overkill has my vote.

I have two 8s 280 ah batteries for my Rv with Overkill BMSs.

I think Batrium lets you monitor multiple BMSs at once; with my overkill, I need to hook one to my phone and the other to an iPad.

The other reason not to go with Overkill is if you need more than 100 amps from each battery.

Using the Overkill solar 8s for my first 24V battery build. (y)

JBD bms are the best. Built 3 12v batteries with them using an sunfunkits branded jbd and just recently tried a 8s version.
JBD + active balancer is the most reliable combo and with the sfk buttons you can set it to only turn on the balancer when the battery is near full. There app lets you see 4 jbd devices at the same time as well. Rock solid.
