Lion Energy Stress Test and Tear Down

The frozen banana test is a must, I loved that improvisation !
Will, have you ever tested the High Temp cut off, does anyone KNOW if they work ?
would be a worthy inclusion, I imagine using a heat gun would be enough to trigger an over temp trip.

You mentioned that the 4GA Welding cable hit 87 Celsius but how hot did their doubled up wires get ? Also an interesting point is the size of that heat sink which is something a bit unusual as many of the other small BMS' don't have one but obviously quite a good thing.

BMS is a Class 2 : http://www.sz-supower.com.cn/en/products_list_10_1.html
The specific model is not listed, so it's quite possible they made a custom version for for Lion Battery

EDIT: I looked at the PDF which is in Chinese of course but I could decipher that the Communications Interface is RS485. So possibly ModBus ?

Can you check that Daly sensor to see if it functions for high temp disconnect?

Your new year's party was better than mine! Thanks as always for your diligence Will.

excellent review Will. Amazing how hot the wires got pulling 125+amps. You cracked me up when you stated 'this might be more of a cable test than a bms test...ha ha...

The biggest question still remains unaswered, however. Did it smell like Harbor Freight??

Another quality product that actually does what it says on the label, and then some. It proves that you can build a lower cost thing without ripping people off by putting rubbish inside. I did a quick price comparison with some other well know name brands and now knowing what the inside of a Lion looks like + the higher discharge specs, the small price bump I see makes the Lion a no-brainer.

Cool (but not frozen) bananas.

Nice review now I know I don't have a piece of junk. Lion 1200 sold out 1300 scroll down; What others are Saying there's the
video. Where is the BMS locked in a vault do you know the combo.?

A friend of mine has four of the Lion Safari UT 1300 wired in parallel (equal length cables on each battery to the bus bar). Something funny is going on. The Victron shunt thought there was 20% state of charge, but the batteries decided otherwise and shut down. It would be nice to be able to communicate with the BMS to find out the real story.

Edit: I'm not ruling out a configuration issue on the shunt. I wasn't the one that configured it.
