Is anyone making server rack enclosures for the 280Ah cells?

Thanks guys.

Seplos has a couple of DIY kit options.
There are multiples coming out, some people reported that "amy" had something too, but I think they were all removed in the great vendor purge of 2022. ;)

Check out the thead under DIY Powerwalls about the custom case for 280Ah batteries. They are stackable, you could fit them in a rack if the rack was equipped with suitable shelves for them, but otherwise they are just designed to stack on top of each other and latch together.

Thanks for the heads up!

This is how I did mine, not server rack but had custom metal rack made for a cabinet from Lowe’s. Then used 5/16” aluminum plates for lite compression.

16 x 5.2kg cell
1 x 28kg case
=
111kg or around 250lbs
Probably have another 25 KG in wiring, buss bars, support material and BMS so 135-140KG = 308 Lbs

Actually I think the case will probably be closer to 40KG by itself.

The case weight includes all that stuffs. And it's not (close to 40kg) because I just bought four of them, it weighs 28kg all in.

@Shawn Hayes setup looks great. How is the system running with a battery bank that size? Also where did you get your cabinet/shelf? Thanks

edit - just reread that you mentioned lowes.

Thanks. In the final stages of completing our house. About 2-months out ATM....
Still haven’t hooked up my LiFePo4 batteries yet. Still operating off of my AGM that came with my Sol-Ark.
I did add 175 amp Mid-Night Solar breakers for each battery pack (4) between the pack and paralleling bus bar for a safety/protection easy disconnecting if needed. I’ll post a few pictures later.
However I did work out a partial solution to the Sol-Ark shutting down with variable speed loads....

So here are my photos of the system completed but idle. Added the breakers but system as I mentioned earlier not hooked up to Sol-Ark yet.
When I actually get this up and running I need to revisit your disconnect strategy and localized monitoring setup.

Are the cells working ok mounted in that position? I was under the impression flat mounting them was not ok.

I thought flat mounting on side (even electrolyte coverage) was fine, flat mounting in edge is what you want to avoid.

I do not know. I have all mine mounted terminals in the upright position. Just noticed your position and wanted to check.

Based on research I have seen, laying them horizontally is OK. I have seen it both ways however. So far my batteries are OK. However, keep in mind that my system is running off my large DIY LiFePo4 packs are NOT connected to my Sol-Arks yet.
I charged my packs, they have been resting at that state and position for a few months. So far no issues however they are not being charged or used at all. Once I start using them I guess I will find out and would be happy to share that information at that point.
However I am approximately one - two weeks away from connecting the large LiFePo4 power wall packs to my Sol-Ark‘s. I did not want to start using those batteries until we were close to moving in.

Edit: when I purchased the cells, I specifically asked, does matter how the cells are mounted? The response was vertical or horizontal on the long side but not on the short side horizontally. So.....?
