Cells read 5 volts

Hi. I've had my 280ah eve cell battery in storage about a year. It went in at 3.2 volts per cell. I've kept an eye on it and noticed the cells slightly dropping voltage over the months. Last time I checked it was on 10.8 volts. Cut off is 10 volts on daly 250 amp bms.
Today bms app won't connect. I checked cells and they all read 5 volts and the bms is off.
Have I destroyed my battery?
Thanks if anyone has time to respond.

They all say 5 volts. How can it jump I'm voltage if it hasn't been connected to anything

Also, I think you have the negative lead plugged into the wrong place on the meter. It should be in the bottom hole - the one marked COM.

Thanks guys. I've not looked at any multi meters or anything in a year. I have 3 cells showing 2.7 and one on 2.5 so thats a runner. Can't understand why the bms shut down. Does anyone know how to correctly short the bms to get it on again. I remember shorting to pins on the side.

Thanks again for taking time to help me. I was very worried. Now I just need to get a bit of juice in the runner slowly. Reconnect, slow charge and all should be well. How much ghost draw will the bms take from the cells if they left in storage?

Providing the cells or one cell sitting at 2.5 is above my minimum voltage which is set to 2.5volts.
It is possible the draw was greater before the BMS shut down and the cell went below 2.5 volts causing the BMS to shut down. Then, with no draw, the cell bounced back. I am only speculating about what I presume is your question about why the BMS shut down?

My phone updated in the night. I remember a few months ago people posting that they had allowed the daly app to update and it blocked them out. I did not do the update. Maybe the phone has updated it now and that's why it went off. It was reading 10.8 before so I didmt expect it to go off. But if I've got cell one as a runner that could trip it aswell.

Calling a 2.5V cell when the others are at 2.7V a "runner" is not even remotely meaningful.

You have 4 empty cells. Period.

Apply a charge current.

Reset BMS

Charge to full.

See what happens at the top end.
