18KPV Battery Communication Problem

Having a problem establishing communication between the EG4 18KPV Inverter and the EG4 LL V2 Batteries. I have tried three different batteries in strings and separately. I can't get anything to communicate. Let's simplify things and just deal with one single battery for now.

I'm using the supplied inverter to battery cable supplied with the inverter. Pinout attached.

It's plugged from the top left RJ-45 Batt Comm port (labeled inverter) to the RS485 port on the battery (labeled battery).

Battery dip switches are off, on, on, on, on, on

Battery type is lithium and profile is 0-Lithum-0 (I've tried 0-5 so far)


Please help!

try CAN instead of RS485 with lithium 0.
if not try CAN with lithium 2...

Got it working today. Inverter setings were fine. Battery communication had to be changed under the RS485 menu from P-01 EG4 to P-03 LUX. After the change it took about a minute for the communication to establish and the inverter to update the battery status.


Note, the instructions on the LL-V2 for setting the protocol are incorrect. It says after addressing the battery as ID#64, hold the return button for 5 seconds. This does not work. You have to hold the back button for 5 seconds.

I made the same mistake of setting the protocol to EG4 on the batteries. With this was more clear in the manual.

Now I've got the same issue. I have an eg4 18kpv and eg4 ll batteries, and I'm getting a communication error. Any ideas?

Im having the same problem but with lifepower batteries (no screen on batteries) any help?

Hello, The EG4 LifePower4 batteries may need to be updated to the latest firmware to allow communication with Luxpower. The 48v firmware and guide can be located on the EG4electronics download page. https://eg4electronics.com/downloads/ If you're still having issues with this even after updating please DM me so I can assist you further.

My first try was directly with the battery set as host, without the battery module, as soon as i connected it everything worked. Thanks
