i have 2 EG4 6500EX's but they are not using all the solar available. it is either 100 or 50Ws below the load. is there a setting I'm missing to have it backfeed into my house or at least use all the solar available?

Most inverters are not very good at reading very low currents and seem to not take into account of what they need for their own purposes.

More than likely, you'll never see an exact 1 to 1 conversion from solar to load due to conversion losses and inverter idle consumption.

im not looking for 1 to 1 but when its at full sun I should be getting like 3Kw's that way more than the load. will it show it going back into the grid side?

No, the 6500s don’t feed back to the grid.

What mode is your inverter in (option 1)?

On your inverter you press and hold the button on the bottom right of your screen till it enters the menu. Then you scroll to option 1.
i added the picture, but now it shows more PV than load where is the rest going?

Can't say what might happen if you don't have batteries connected and you're in split phase. I know that technically you can run a single inverter without a battery.

You'll more than likely never get the full solar panel output without the batteries because there's no place for the extra power to go. I know I've had discussions with SS about the fact that when in grid mode, all the solar isn't utilized for powering the loads, it goes to the batteries.

that makes sense but what about when I have more solar than load why can't I tell if it is not drawing from utility? is there a better app I can use that will so me more or do I need to put cpamps on the utility line and reed the amps?

You have to keep in mind that the watchpower app is not realtime. It only updates every 5 min or so. You’re only seeing a snapshot of the data when you look at that screen. You really can’t tell what your accurate usage is with that app.

Lots of people on this site will recommend Solar Assistant as it gives you realtime monitoring.

It really should be called watchpastpower or something along those lines.

?? ?? I couldn't go without Solar Assistant now that I have it, it's perfect support for the addiction ?
