    Charging with Sol-Ark 15k question

Very similar to what we see. Again, if you drew an imaginary line from 90 to 100 it would be a more normal looking curve. My best guess is that Pytes doesn't attempt to report the range of 90-100 super accurately. At least in this firmware version. With the voltage curves of this battery...

20 ft Shipping Container Solar Array Mount

Hi Branch Ranch. The part you can't see on the picture is the top. It is similar to the side. We just made it wide enough to catch 2 ribs on top, and one on the side. If you made it a bit wider, two on the side, and one top might be better for rain. Then just some good sealant on the bolts...

    Charging with Sol-Ark 15k question

Well, at least we are all seeing similar things with the Sol-Ark Pytes combo. Indeed it seems like if I go a long time without a full charge, then it can stay on 90% longer. The good news is that the new is wearing off a bit, so it doesn't bother me. It seems to be working very well overall...

Solar has been hijacked/co opted. A wakeup?

Hi Robstrom, Everyone has opinions and thoughts. No need to be disappointed. No need to agree. You sparked some conversation, that's all.

    12 Volt/24 volt charging confusion!!!!

You may also want to check if your manual specifies what that amperage applies to. The battery amperage or the supply circuit amperage. Always good to read and re-read to be safe.

    12 Volt/24 volt charging confusion!!!!

Hi, If you look at it this way, the 20 amp setting (assuming battery amps) would be charging at about 53 volts times 20 amps. 1060 watts/hr. That would charge your battery from 20% to 100% in roughly 4 hours. 100 amp hour battery, at 20 per hour. Depends what kind of speed you need, but for...

    12 Volt/24 volt charging confusion!!!!

I can also add, that the volt/amp calculations apply to your battery as well. For example, your 12v 200 amp hour battery has 1/2 the capacity of your 48v 100 amp hour battery. You just take the voltage, times the amp hours to come up with watt/hours.

    12 Volt/24 volt charging confusion!!!!

Hi e trouble. It's just a matter of realizing what voltage the amps apply to. In this case it would be 40 amps at 12v, or 480 watts. Charging your 48v battery at 40 amps takes over 2000 watts, so cannot be done with a standard 15 amp outlet. 40x12=480 40x48=1920 Real world is higher...

Federal Tax Credit Question regarding possible solar shed

My opinion would differ just because the language currently says it would not include roof trusses, etc. even if they support solar panels. So why would roof trusses that cover batteries be in a completely different category. I love open interpretations, I personally don't see it being that broad.

Federal Tax Credit Question regarding possible solar shed

These things are somewhat interpretation. You would have to decide for yourself. I didn't see a way to do that when I read it, so I didn't put costs in for rebuilding the wall where I put the inverter. It said something about labor costs for that part, but I did it myself. I didn't want to...

My Pytes battery install with my SolArk 12k, AC coupled to Enphase micros

Hi Ampster, I have the Pytes 48100R x6 since November. They have been good. I floated all of this month so far without a full charge, but also without hitting the minimum. So I know they don't have to hit 100 percent regularly. I think I'll go charge only for a few days and get them to 100...

You are more concerned with being right than helping. Just putting that out there in case you can't see it.

    Purchased from "BATTERY FINDS"

Hi Jake, Yes. And no need to let random strangers tell you otherwise. Some people just like to cast doubt. Good luck with your project. Sometimes I wish I had the determination to build a battery pack instead of buying it. I'm not there yet.

One meter, two 200A main panels, EG4 18KVP, CT sensors, zero-export

Hi, Just a heads up. Along these lines. Watch out for issues with the neutrals as well. Especially if fed from two different meters. This seems complex. I would suggest: a: Keep it simple or b: Get a skilled electrician involved. Just one guy's opinion.

Those of you doing permits, are they asking for separate panel ground wire or through ground mount racking?

I'm thinking it depends if your mounting system is designed for grounding. The inspector didn't have a problem with the ironridge mounts being the ground once I showed him the clamping screws and that it was designed for it. Then I tied the "actual" ground to the iron-ridge rails with the...

    SolArk 15k Questions

Personally I would lean toward some type of shelter too. If you look up the IP rating charts it will give you a better idea of what IP65 is. There are differences in the amount of water and pressure used. The 6 is for "solids" I believe. I have seen them installed outside though. If...

    my furnace back up

David, I don't know how familiar you are with the laws of the universe, but I am good friends with them. The reason you don't have power outages anymore is because you are ready. Congrats! For example, I put a new shift linkage, new plow shoes, and new snow deflector on the plowing rig this...

Off grid incinerating toilets. Who uses one?

For another data point. At an off-grid cabin, we used a poly septic tank. Around 2000 gal I believe, and we just have it pumped occasionally. Has been about once every 3 years, and that is without a drain field. Would be different if we lived there. Another potential option though if your...

Solar has been hijacked/co opted. A wakeup?

IMO, we can address them by not tying everything together into one vulnerable basket. There always advantages and disadvantages to any system. The people that I see doing the most damage are focused on the advantages "for the good of the people" and ignore the disadvantages. It is possible...

    Any interconnect regrets?

Thank you for all the responses. So far positive. Which gives me some energy to press on with the reading anyhow! I talked to them once on the phone, and they were already struggling with where to put some type of additional meter. Most of the systems are directly to grid, then the customer...

    Any interconnect regrets?

Thanks. I figured the agreement was worth about what a warranty on a product is worth... Sad to hear it though! I believe they have something called an average rate which should pay net metered at 12 cents/kWh. I have to go through more of the fine print to see what that means, and if there...

    Any interconnect regrets?

Hi good people. As I am about to embark on a pile of paperwork... Does anyone have regrets that they did and interconnect or sell agreement with their power company? Does it remove any freedoms you have with your system. Did they change something a year or two in that made it not worth...

Do PWM controllers/dimmers cause EMI noise? Alternatives?

I guess I see it a lot without autism. The led taillights on cars, if you move your head to look around, all trail pretty bad. I tend to see it mostly in peripheral vision. I have not went to LED in my own house because I would rather be happy and healthy than save a few kW. So I think it is...

Solar has been hijacked/co opted. A wakeup?

I like alternative ideas, But it could be argued this is putting the cart before the horse. Saying that government printing is due to someone trying to retire, or build wealth for future generations. It's circular once the printing starts. You need more to retire, so you try to save more...

Solar has been hijacked/co opted. A wakeup?

Roof system? I have a 2kW that produced 120 some and that was a really cloudy month. Genuinely curious as to if something could be fixed, or if that was just a really rough month. That would be like 10 hours of sun. Either way, sorry to hear that. Edit: I missed the replies. Glad to see...

Why are there micro and string inverters instead of just wiring PV from the panels to the main inverter?

I agree. I wasn't cheer leading for micro-inverters. Just trying to explain the basics, and state that they work well for shading, without getting lost in details. I don't use micro-inverters myself, but I know they have a use case.

Why are there micro and string inverters instead of just wiring PV from the panels to the main inverter?

Hi Adirondack, In regards to shade: This is how I think of the micro-inverter. It may not be technically accurate, but it helps to visualize. The micro-inverter makes each panel and micro-inverter a small separate system. So lets say 10 panels and 10 micro-inverters are 10 very small...

    Best Sol-Ark 15 Battery?

I agree. I think a rule to spread them out is short sighted, and doesn't acknowledge that a complex setup with more wiring is more of a risk than the denser pack. Poorly planned mitigation does more harm than good.

    Best Sol-Ark 15 Battery?

Maybe things changed, maybe I was lucky. I passed inspection with a forest RB with 30.72kw of Pytes batteries. I'm sure there are differences in where you live. I can tell you that it was a very meticulous inspection, with almost everything, including wire type, grounding, each unit's rating...

Ive had solar for a year and now the utility company charges a demand fee... not cool.

Hmm. Complication is the friend of cheats and swindlers. Not honest people so much. A simple rate adjustment for high demand times would suffice, but be too simple apparently.

    Best Sol-Ark 15 Battery?

I have the 48100r pytes x6 in a forest RB box. It does come with the cables for the batteries to the bus bar, but not to the inverter. Got that from battery cables usa. I got the 6 batteries and cabinet drop shipped from pytes through a distributor, but it doesn't even come with info on how...
