That's something I'll consider down the road, initially I'm probably under-paneling, at just over 20kw worth of panels for what will be 2 inverters.

For what it's worth, I ordered one today. It'll be a while before I get a chance to install it, but I plan on keeping what little I know about the thing up to date.

I wouldn't buy an inverter there for sure. Solar panels (or anything that's dumb tech), sure, buy it there if its cheaper.

There's also a seller on ebay advertising them, but for full MSRP, it appears.

I missed that reading over it, as well as the idle consumption. Hopefully someone gets one soon and plays with it a bit. I haven't ordered yet, but even when I do, I'm months away from having my ground mount installed and everything else ready to go.

Just looking at the data sheet again, it looks like they’ve somewhat recently update it, as the data sheet on the Growatt US website now has a line for overload capacity of 13000W for 5 seconds

Heck, wireandcableyourway has 4AWG AL XHHW-2 listed for $0.29/ft, if you really need something with a bit more current carrying capability.

I suspect the reason the price is so much lower than something like a Solark, is the lack of 200A pass thru. I personally plan on starting with 2 of these, maybe adding a 3rd down the road, after we see how it does. I have a total electric house, but plan on putting the HVAC not on the backup...

Interesting, and obviously V3 didn't have a backup output, because of how it was designed. Based on how they're showing the diagrams, I'm confident that it's more like V1 of the MIN's than V2.

I get the distinct feeling that once someone actually gets their hands on one of these things, we will learn a lot more than the basic manuals so far.

Interesting discussion. I'm still not positive, but when you run these inverters without a battery, does the backup load get power from AC when you've got no solar coming in? It seems like it should, but you never know.

This actually isn't a bad idea. I'm planning on running 2 parallel 10kW AIO's, and had planned on combining it all with PDB's. But in some ways, using a very basic 200A panel to combine them might be a better (and perhaps cheaper) method.

Why would you not just combine into a PDB, with a breaker on each inverter between the PDB? Using multiple backfed breakers seems like a total pain, and something that would be easy to backfeed the grid...

Reading the Intro slides, they show 3 battery types (all of Growatt origin); the ALP, Hope and AXE battery. Only one (the AXE) have I ever seen listed for sale in the US. Are the other two coming, or is that more of a global product we won't see here?

I understand the voltage drop. It's more of the derating for being in a conduit with more than 3 conductors and any potential temperature derating. Having a large enough wire to meet code, is the issue here.

Because the inverter MPPT's don't support that kind of amperage. Each inverter has 3 MPPTs, each capable of 22A at most.

Exactly. Thats why I was planning on maybe going a size higher that I absolutely have to. My biggest question is just simply AL vs CU, but I'm not sure it really makes much of a difference, as long as they're properly installed

It's not a minimum voltage drop required issue. It's more of an issue with derating in said conduit, and then cost. Why spend $0.60+/ft for copper if I can find suitable aluminum for nearly half that. I'm looking at running a string with 21A, with 4 strings in a single conduit, so 8 conductors...
