    10-90% SOC usage window

Hi toothy, I'm very curious why the aquion didn't work out for you. I'm considering the greenrock which is the new aquion. looks to be exactly the same battery but I can't find anyone to give a recommendation. So please tell me the good bad and ugly. I don't care about size or weight. my only...

    ac/dc in conduit

Anyone know if you can run both ac and dc conductors in the same conduit? I'm planing to run dc to dc converter to a bunch of usb outlets in the house and I want to put the wires in the same conduit that I have AC wires in. (Assume conduit fill is respected.)

Silly question about energy and heat.

Hey your an HVAC contractor, maybe you can tell me why someone would put rigid foam around the ducts on the inside of the home. As in the outlet from the forced air heating are literally going into the room that the insulated duct work is in. Again. the furnace and ducts are all inside an...

Silly question about energy and heat.

I understood. I know what a heat pump is. I built one. My point was that pumps use quite a bit of electric also. and depending on how far down or rather up you need to pump it can increase the cost as you move to the north or south poles of the earth because you need to dig farther down to get...

    My brothers system

not sure. small. under 100 i think. You think that's why it's not over heating.. it's just not enough power going in. who knows. don't do it. I was just surprised it even worked.

Silly question about energy and heat.

right i get that insulating in an environment you AREN'T heating is obviously good. but i'm talking about duct work INSIDE the house. isolation is not what I would call cheap. and certainly not when it provides no hmmm.. isolation?

Silly question about energy and heat.

Most of our lights are not up any higher then the heat is being blown so... Maybe for condensation. IDK. I honestly think it's just the latest is ripping people off by calling it green. Most of the houses now contain more spray foam than wood thanks to a growing and very profitable industry...

Silly question about energy and heat.

Not on solar yet. but given that I require so much heat, that makes me wonder if paying for LEDs is worth it. Well it's certainly worth it in the summer. And we do have mostly LEDs. But i don't think most people really consider these details. I saw a newly built house with isolation around all...

Silly question about energy and heat.

I think a get allot more photon energy entering the home via windows then escaping, but i get your point. I had looked briefly at the number for heat pumps awhile bad. I was surprised because pumps themselves are energy hogs. I guess it depends where you live. I'm sure if you lived in syberia...

Silly question about energy and heat.

Assuming you have an electrical heating system. In the winter time, does it save to turn your lights off, or will the heat from the light just off set your heater. Because it's my understanding that the efficiency of any heater is the same. The only advertised differences in efficiency are based...

    Powering high loads like dryer

thanks I'll have to check that out. If I find one more problem with this old house i'm going to scream. To be honest it wouldn't surprise me. Part of the benefit of adding the solar is that the grid system will be getting an overhaul at the same time.

    Powering high loads like dryer

North american, yes. I got everything up until here. inverter rated for 3500 watts. Are they rated by watt hour? I had one and i just remember it had a burst rating and a continuous rating. So if I use 3500 watts over the course of 1 hour. That means a continuous rating of 3500 Wh? so like even...

    Powering high loads like dryer

Enter AC Device Ratings AC Voltage 220 VAC AC Amperage 30 Amps AC (enter mAh as .xyz) Wattage 6600 Watts DC Voltage 12 V DC Amperage 607.20 Amps DC I don't know if i filled that in correctly. but it gave me 6600 wattage. I entered the stuff in bold.

    My brothers system

Yes, very good point Bob and if you knew my brother like I do, then you really wouldn't replicate anything he does. The fact that he has all his limbs intact from other things he has done is nothing short of a miracle. I really should have said that at the start. Do not try this!!!

    Powering high loads like dryer

Hi everyone. I'm new here but have been watching will's vids for about a year and read the book. I often trip up over doing simple calculation from amps to watt hours. I have to use paper as it just isn't natural in my my head yet. One of the things i really just can't wrap my head around is...

    My brothers system

I agree, but with my own eyes I saw it. and he claims to be using it for sometime same batteries. Anyhow is there no danger of over charging and blowing it up?

    My brothers system

So, I just came back from visiting my brother where he showed me his system. Lead acid batteries hooked directly to a solar panel. No charge controller, no fuses, no inverter (dc loads only) Just looked at the wires side ways like a confused puppy. How is this working without issue?
