I don't think you want water spraying on an electrical/battery fire. A couple, three class c auto fire extinguishers would be better imo.

    off grid system

Willsey40, if I may add my 2 cents worth here. Before shellling out major bucks on a system you really need to do your own energy audit. Then look at decreasing how much energy your using. You would be suprised at the amount a lot of us have saved without decreasing our comfort level. For our...

    Optimistic solar breakeven calculation

My drive for solar started with just battery backup for wifes cpap machine. Then I thought how do I recharge them if something happens to the grid? So here comes solar. Then what about heating and cooling the house. And it just spirals up from there. Whole hog or none.

    Optimistic solar breakeven calculation

For me, I don't care about ROI, environment etc. My reason for solar is twofold. 1st. The ability to generate my own power and sell what I don't use to the grid. 2nd, when the power company becomes tyrant enough I can tell them to come get their meter. Okay just thought of a third reason. You...

If there was a way to add active balancing ,it may protect the cells from the degredation seen in those on Battery hook up.

Big dreams, small living, off-grid homestead from scratch

Also, this johneb's wife. We WANTED a gas range, but would have needed exhaust fan to vent to OUTSIDE., and other additional expenses . SOME of the cookware you own may work, but most of ours had to be replaced. (I felt sad when we let go of our Revereware.) We thought stainless steel pans...

Big dreams, small living, off-grid homestead from scratch

We had the old coil electric at first. The induction is leaps and bounds better then it. As others have mentioned, faster heat up, cool down is almost immediate since it is the pan thats heating not the stove top. Much better temp control. We bought an Amana which just gives us level 1-9,H,P so...

Big dreams, small living, off-grid homestead from scratch

We have always been gas is the best, but we bought an all electric house. Putting in gas was cost prohibitive. Then we happened on an induction stove/oven. It works as good as gas hands down.
