The thing you are all overlooking is the fact that the panels were not properly installed and this caught someone's attention. If you would of left them on the ground you would have been fine.
Battery #1 negative to bus bar, positive to #2 negative. #2 pos to #3 negative, pos to #4 negative, #4 pos to bus bar. All 3 banks wired the same. According to the date code it was one of my oldest ones... bought new in 2015
I got the bank torn down and here are the voltages...bank 3 is the one that melted.
Bank 1
Battery #1 12.48
Battery #2 12.37
Battery #3 12.56
Battery #4 12.58
Bank 2
Battery #1 12.7
Battery #2 12.37
Battery #3 12.56
Battery #4 12.73
Bank 3
Battery #1 12.79... looks good
Battery # 2 9.3...
Charging is from solar only. Just about 14k... 3 gw spf5000es and one outback fm60 cc. To be clear the .5v or less was between banks, not individual batteries.
Right now I have everything shutdown, until I can figure out what happened. I don't want to buy just 2 more agms... although I think the 2 that died were my oldest.
I am running 12 each 12v 200ah agms wired for 48v 600ah. 2 of them just melted... I want to replace the bank with lifepo4... what would be the best replacement, I'm thinking 4 rack mount type batteries. Cost is the biggest factor
Yes, 2x6 on both sides of the 4x4 posts. The cross bracing is the 4x4s in the corners. The front edge is off the ground for 2 reasons...1 dogs, 2 i will eventually frame the sides and the front edge in to make a shed.
