USA China Lithium Battery and Battery Parts Tariff to increase from 7.5% to 25% (in 2026?)

Good catch! I missed that. Not even a tariff increase for us now. Unless our cells get automatically considered EV batteries or something. I could see that being true where they mean like power tool batteries get the tariff in 2026 but big Lifepo4 cells are already considered an "EV type" battery.

Shunt trip breaker XW Pro grid ideas?

Or wait, just manually disqualify grid? It already has contactors in the XW for this. No need to duplicate the functionality.

Shunt trip breaker XW Pro grid ideas?

I just use an AC contactor.

    Peak vs. continuous power (Enphase)

It's 8 watts. That's just like margin of error, or they're running cooler than their rated conditions range, or whatever. Not a mystery to track down.

mutliplus-II grounding question , static system

You should have a main AC breaker panel and that's where neutral and ground are bonded and where the ground rod is connected. Inverter gets grounded to the main panel.

Yeah I would change to a bolt lug holder.

Using nema 10-50 connector with single phase for Tesla charging?

Twice the cost of what? An AIMS 120v or something? So out of spec wiring of a 120v hot and neutral to the hot plugs of a 10-50? And expect it to draw 35 amps at 120v? I doubt that will work. I just don't understand what you're trying to avoid or save here. Please provide some comparison...

Using nema 10-50 connector with single phase for Tesla charging?

240v 30 amps and 120v 60 amps is the same amount of power.

    Signature Solar Supply Store...a prototype??

I like that Signature is doubling down on receiving in person customers. Would be cool to see a Sacramento, Stockton, or Modesto location some day. I mean even closer would be better, but central valley is cheaper and sits between all the mountain off gridders.

I wouldn't buy 12v batteries to put in series.

Signature solar is cheapest in the US, not sure if you can order direct from there.

    Stacked Rosies

Awesome. Probably someday for me then. But I won't really have a good excuse for it until my XW dies and that could be a while.

    Stacked Rosies

Fantastic! Thank you. How are the fans at 1-2kW load? I'm sure they modulate, but down to just pretty quiet or very quiet?

How hot can exterior metal conduit get?

Did you do a derating calculation?
  17. hwy17

How hot can exterior metal conduit get?

    I think maybe when you derate you get to replace a 1.25 so instead of x 1.25 x 1.25 = 1.56x it's x derate x 1.25 = ampacity required. But not positive about that.

How hot can exterior metal conduit get?

The NEC has derating calcs for environmental temperature, and somebody maintains an industry database for what temp to use for different areas. It's like a copper association or something.

What batteries are people using that have the EG4 6000XP?

Warranty and technical support add significant cost.

    EG4 purchase

I wouldn't worry about it. Signature isn't Amazon it's not satisfaction guaranteed with free shipping both ways but they're real, not a scam, and I believe they do try to figure out how to handle this stuff fairly in a business where user error is the norm. And if you do have a problem, you can...

    Panel to Battery Ratio?

Ratio used to be an important factor with lead acid, because there is a target charge rate that will keep lead acid healthy. Nowadays with lithium ratio can be whatever you want. You can imagine what the limitations are of being heavier on either one. The best ratio is always more of everything.

Newbie help! Parallel BMS wiring -- with terrible MSPAINT drawing!!

I may have just been confused actually, and thought it was a picture of single pole breakers on negatives. And I meant that single pole breakers usually go on positives. If they're double pole breakers you can ignore me and go ahead.

Are this Genuine EVE 304AH Batteries?

No problem. For 48v packs, JK seems to be the most popular among enthusiasts. But I don't know the specific models.

Are this Genuine EVE 304AH Batteries?

It's the Orion JR2 and I got mine used from another member on here in the buy sell forum, but Evolve Electronics is the retail distributor afaik. Careful, the Evolve listing will offer to sell you a contactor too as a common accessory, but theirs is a 12v coil and it's polar and both of those...

    Stacked Rosies

If you felt like I'm interested in any good quality audio recordings of the Rosie running under decent load, 1.5kWh+ I'm curious if these inverters are gonna be quieter than the XW. I like the XW, and it makes it's noise because of what is is, but an inverter that does hum through walls would...

Schneider XW Pro - Small Currents on 'AC Out'

I agreed strongly until I got more into DIY and now I don't know, I sort of appreciate that the most likely shock hazards in our panels are 120v line to ground ones. Not a great reason to compromise the entire design of an electrical system, but it is a nice safety feature. I wish that we could...

Are this Genuine EVE 304AH Batteries?

You should know I've been around enough to know that! Lol, jk. You had some level of familiarity with the DIY EV scene before I believe? I think we still have a lot to learn from them. I'd love to get a strongly opinionated one of those builders in here tearing people a new one for some of the...

Schneider XW Pro - Small Currents on 'AC Out'

Yeah that's where I got my preference, my utility comes in at 124 under no load. So I figure if my XW's gonna be a bit unstable and overshoot sometimes, I know I'm comfortable with it being at up to 124 for sure. So 120.9 is what acheived that in my system. Sometimes I get tempted to dial it...

Are this Genuine EVE 304AH Batteries?

Schneider XW Pro - Small Currents on 'AC Out'

Nice! I'm curious what did your inverters come set to by default? Like do they typically run around 115 or 120? Mine arrived to me second hand putting out 115, and I dialed it up to where it tries to stay on 120.1-121. From there I do see it get up to the 124's sometimes while it's grappling...

    New Tariffs in the States

I predict prices on Q Cells 475/480/485's will remain pretty stable at $.40 a watt. The market for them was irrational and all over the place, I suspect because small-medium commercial solar farms were gobbling them up at whatever the real going rate was, leaving only scraps to fall on retail...

4 X class solar flares to impact this weekend.

My phone could clearly see a bright pink aurora on the horizon here in central California but it was barely visible to the eye just the faintest red. Like red tinted light pollution, but if you stared you could see that it was a little more unreal than that, and did emminate from the sky itself...
