    Interesting Battery Box

I am circling back to provide an update. So far I really like the box. I wish I had purchased two or three more before NAPA realized what they had, and everyone else discovered them a bought them all up. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was that the switch for the accessory...

    Interesting Battery Box

@Struc Sorry I missed your question, glad I came back searching for some info and noticed it. I just measured the sidewall of the bottom of the box and it is approaching 8.5". You could probably fit cells that were close to 9" tall in the box with the cover on. It mostly depend on where you...

    Interesting Battery Box

That is a clever battery setup. What types of cells are safe to lay on their sides, like that are possibly doing? I guess they could be using 18650 cells in those packs.

    Interesting Battery Box

Wow! That is definitely it, at least in most of the shots. (For some reason, they have a different battery box in some of the shots.) Even the colors on for the labels are the same. Maybe this is a big thing down under. I found a link to the Ridge Ryder line of products...

    Interesting Battery Box

Here are some additional photos I took of the exterior yesterday. It might be obvious to some, but those are 50 Amp Anderson connectors in the 3rd picture.

    Interesting Battery Box

Anything specifically you would like to see that is not in the pictures on NAPA's site? Edit: Sorry, dyslexia got the better of me. I thought you wanted to see more of the outside. I do have photos of the inside in an earlier reply.

    Interesting Battery Box

A couple snap latches on the sides. On a more serious note, the lack of latches really is not that big of a deal. The strap provided does have a quick disconnect. I probably just have a general aversion to straps.

    Interesting Battery Box

It did come with a strap, I was hoping there would be a way to secure the lid without a strap. Mostly for easier access to the cells but I probably will not need that. It also came with some brackets to secure to the front and rear of the box. Then the strap is supposed to be run through them...

    Interesting Battery Box

Got the battery box today. Overall construction seems decent. A couple things that I wish it had: First, a lid that securely latched into place. Second, an adjustable internal partition to accommodate smaller battery sizes. The box that the battery rests in is the same size as the Group 27 box...

    Interesting Battery Box

The description says, and the pictures also suggest, that it has a resetable circuit breaker. No indication of what amperage the breaker is rated for. From your photo, it looks like it is only protecting the USB ports and battery meter.

What was your impression of the overall quality?

    Interesting Battery Box

It should be here tomorrow. Hopefully I can have a review up on Friday.

    Interesting Battery Box

Yep, 8 cells with one of the Daly BMS'es that Will did some testing on and recommended about 3 years ago.

    Interesting Battery Box

I stumbled across this battery box and am wondering if anyone has had any experience with it. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_MTBA890?impressionRank=85 I have a home built LION battery, actually bought the cells from LION Energy, that is currently in a cheap $10 battery box with no...

    Lithium Ion 14500 cells

I know I read or heard something about some brands to stay away from for Lithium Ion cells, but I am not remembering where. Can someone point me to a forum post? Or just provide recommendations? I am wanting to build an extra battery for my son's RC truck. It seems like a fun father-son project.

    Trying to understand amp hours???

"Wind generator", but I digress to much. Time to go yell at some kids on my lawn.

    Trying to understand amp hours???

The simple way that I think of it is that you can store enough energy in that battery bank to run a 48V load pulling 1A (amp) for 840 hours or a 24V load pulling 1A (amp) for 1680 hours. Like you mentioned you are probably only going to be able to pull those loads for half the amount of time...

Yinlong LTO bank for my Off grid cabin

I thought the studs and or nuts might be made of steel. Keeping it all aluminum would solve the problem.

What are you doing to mitigate corrosion problems due to dissimilar metals being in contact with each other?

    Need BMS advice

I thought about doing something like that. This setup is going to be installed in a child's power toy. Part of my goal is to make the charging as child friendly as possible.

    Need BMS advice

I have some Ryobi One+ battery packs. They have 5 lithium 18650 cells in series for 18v output. They also have Ryobi's proprietary BMS. I have been having issues getting the batteries to charge through the BMS without a Ryobi charger. So I am considering replacing the BMS's. I am planning to...
