    Victron charge controller

Other advantage of the og multiplus is screw terminals instead of lever in mp2. Also peak power slightly less to go with the lower idle consumption Guy Stewart gets into the details a little more. Basically for the US market, og Multiplus seems to be the better choice

    House burned down

They got rid of the DC bus in the original Megapacks and have individual inverters for each module.

Looks like the current mega pack 2 uses 156Ah LFP prismatic cells from CATL: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/tesla-transitions-grid-storage-to-lfp-prismatic-cells-made-in-china.377221/ Some good slides there showing the details, they switched from cylindrical in the original...

    House burned down

There was an event that caused one of the mega packs to go up in flames during the commissioning process at the geelong big battery in Australia. The resulting fire caught a neighboring mega pack on fire. Root cause was found to be that there was a 24 hour delay before the SCADA monitoring back...

    House burned down

The Tesla mega packs have passive venting and a thermal roof to deal with the small chance of thermal runaway, and many safety features which we just don't see in the vast majority of diy configuration, or even in one of the walk in type ess containers using rack mounts. Protection/isolation at...

Did anyone else lose "https://monitor.eg4electronics.com" access today?

Not sure if the big battery CTO role was his previous position? Still, good to have some locally manufactured competition for Midnite.

18 kpv “input power” vs “bypass”

My understanding is that in a grid down situation, if you exceed 50A in load the 18kpv will shut down.

18 kpv “input power” vs “bypass”

with the 18kpv in bypass, it's just passing thru the grid. If the grid actually goes down, then you are left with 12kW of inverter, so you may need to adjust your loads accordingly.

Design for "ultimate" "fire-proof" 274kWh+ battery shed

In that test I believe it produced an explosive atmosphere within 10 seconds. Perhaps constant active ventilation to stop the build up of hydrogen vapors wouldn't be a bad idea?

    House burned down

So it seems like a single 105Ah cell can generate over 40 liters of hydrogen. The article mentions overpressure relief panels, I.e. engineered weak points to allow for pressure to vent without catastrophic rupture. Not sure if there's a risk to a standard steel rack mount type battery...

Design for "ultimate" "fire-proof" 274kWh+ battery shed

The Midnite breakers are designed for multiple consecutive operations at max load and can control the arc appropriately.

    Cheapest setup for VE Configure

Yes in theory you could have multiple configurations and switch between them. But he needs something to run ve config on.

Only to upload and download configurations via VRM.

Very small numbers in the scheme of things.

Interesting Idea for relatively Low Cost 120v UPS using LiFePO4

It's a double conversion online UPS. Yes there will be efficiency losses versus a standby/offline pass thru UPS. In that case the ip22 would deliver enough power to feed the load and keep the battery in float. Basically battery always fully charged and charger power going to inverter. The...

    Victron charge controller

You could connect the 2 mppts via the vedirect ports and then get a ve.bus smart dongle for the inverter//charger. But you'd only get instant read out type info and wouldn't be fully represented in VRM. Consider it a last choice.

    Off-grid Victron Build Critique

They have them but in a different category, not in the ve.can versions. https://www.currentconnected.com/product/victron-smartsolar-charge-controller-mppt-75v-100v-150v-250v-ved/

Interesting Idea for relatively Low Cost 120v UPS using LiFePO4

So if it's strictly a UPS, for example I have a couple river 2s. You connect your fully charged 24V LFP battery to its mppt port. you connect AC input. in the ecoflow app settings under Labs/advanced you enable the "AC always on" setting. River 2 will power the load via pass thru. Upon failure...

Cool text this morning from customer

In seriousness tho if that were to happen, in a small claims court proceeding the fact that the owner of eg4 shared the picture with the world at large would seem to imply tacit approval of the configuration as shown.

Cool text this morning from customer

The real irony would be if there's a failure of one of those 14kWh batteries and the setup picture is used against them to deny warranty coverage due to not following user manual with regard to minimum spacing and support on the bottom of the units.

Interesting Idea for relatively Low Cost 120v UPS using LiFePO4

This will work but a couple of things. Will 300W output be enough? Also the eb3a is known to be quite a defective piece of crap based on many online stories. perhaps consider a river 2 I can tell you that with my Delta 2 max, when using just its mppt trackers connected to a 48V battery,and...

NEED ADVICE ON BLUESUN SOLAR SYSTEM , any recommendations, good 😊 or bad

I think I've seen some of their panels for sale at sig solar in the past? That's about all I can recollect. What does the 15k get you?

    House burned down

Prob could be more clearly written but seems like it's saying: 1. Most common cause of damage is by system components outside of the cells and control systems. 2. Secondmost common cause of damage is operational, I.e overcharging due to state of charge limits etc.

    New Tariffs in the States

That's $9300+installation. Apparently there will be additional pw3 units that don't have the inverter brains just additional DC battery capacity, for a $1000 less. so still big premium for capacity expansion.

OOL - what is the cheapest LiFePO4 12V 100Ah battery you'd recommend to a family member

Ecoworthy 280Ah is hard to beat for bang for buck right now (even cheaper for a pair). Also had good luck with Redodo mini 12V 100ah, and djlb 24Vs.
