12V inverter with low consumption at idle

I did a chat with Giandel and asked why they ship their 12V/1200W inverter with 5 AWG cables....They told me itwas tested, and if properly tighten, they are all good being only 2 ft long Very surprising...........and dangerous it seems !!!

12V inverter with low consumption at idle

Would it be "safe" to use 2 AWG wires with the 12V/1200W Giandel inverter, knowing it won't be running continuously (the sump pump usually kicks in every 10min for ~30sec in the worst case scenario)? And in that case, what fuse should I use? Or are 2/0 AWG definitely required? And by the way...

12V inverter with low consumption at idle

So to be safe, I should go with 2 AWG.....But not 2/0, right?

12V inverter with low consumption at idle

Nice file......thank you for creating it and sharing it The Giandel pure sine wave 1200W is apparently cheaper on the Giandel site than on Amazon.......

12V inverter with low consumption at idle

When I put 12vdc, 120A and 3 feet, I get 4 AWG 4 AWG is the recommendation up to 160A For 165A, it shows 2 AWG So...................2/0 seems huge. Am I missing something?

12V inverter with low consumption at idle

Any idea why Giandel includes a 6 AWG set of wires? It's also the size they specify in their manual .....! I understand the math you provided, but if 2/0 is what I should use, it seems very weird the manufacturer talks about 6 AWG

12V inverter with low consumption at idle

Yes, but when the pump kicks in, the sensor will re-open quickly, and the pump will run on a timer

12V inverter with low consumption at idle

From the link in your previous answer, the Giandel PS-1200JCR Pure Sine seems a good choice with low consumption at idle Will 4 AWG wires be ok?

12V inverter with low consumption at idle

What would be your recommendation for a decent 12V inverter in the 1,200W range (to power a sump pump) that has a low power consumption at idle? Thanks

    Automatic transfer switch between batteries

Hello Assuming I have 2 x 12V batteries (A and B) that are different types and I don't want to have them in parallel (One is a new 100Ah LFP and the other one is an "older" 75Ah AGM but in good shape) Is there an module or circuit that would automatically switch from A to B when A has reached a...

    Portable power station

Hello, Is there any good tutorial to build a portable power station using 12V 100Ah mini batteries Redodo or Power Queen for example)? Could be 12V (2p) or 24V (2s2p) and will use the proper inverter accordingly Not sure what configuration would fit in such cases by the way...

    LifePO4 outside?

Hello I'm retrofitting some old solar garden lights to make them run out of 6VDC (2 leds in // and 47 Ohm resistors) Each lamp will draw ~0.75 Watts and I'm planning to have 10, so 7.5Wh But.....I don't want to run a 100 yard wire, bury it, etc... So I was thinking to have a LiFePO4 12V battery...

    Battery disconnect

Assuming I don't want to have the charger (Victron 12V/15A) permanently wired to the battery LFP 12V 100Ah), what type of battery disconnect/switch could I use? Would a 110V 2 pole switch work? If not, what are your suggestions? FYI, the positive wire is protected by an inline fuse.....

    LFP charger for standby application

I'm not using an inverter nor pv..it's for a 12VDC backup sump pump So I need a charger that will maintain it in storage mode. Thinking about the Victron IP22 12V / 15A It doesn't come with wires, so I'm planning to use 10 AWG.... And I was asking for the fuse / fuse holder type. I know the fuse...
