What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Iirc, (edit) the manual calls for 12" back & side, 24" on mechanical side and 2 or 3' in front. Mine is 12" side & back & 3 1/2' in front. Thanks for the advice.

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

I think this screen will conceal the unit and block it from strong winds. It ties in with the porch skirt. Those concrete blocks are just temp. holding down landscape fabric. I'll paint the treated wood in a few months when it's dried and I added foam insulation to cover the valves then wrapped...

Does mini field need surge protection?

Thanks again for your replies Tim. I just got done reading what you and others wrote on this thread... https://diysolarforum.com/threads/is-putting-a-lightning-arrestor-to-protect-my-panels-a-good-idea-see-the-picture.64390/page-2 Can I install the 3 600's (3 strings/3 mppt's) in the...

Does mini field need surge protection?

Thank you for the feedback. A direct hit to my house is not very likely due to being surrounded by much taller trees on 2 of 4 sides. The panels are hugging the ground and as I gathered from reading around, they're very unlikely to take a direct hit and if they did, these little spd's wouldn't...

Does mini field need surge protection?

I made a couple posts asking for SPD advice. I believe Midnight Solar is what I'll use. This is what they recommend for my house, eg4 18kpv, batteries & pv's... "For your system we would recommend an MNSPD-300-AC outside with a 2p 30a breaker in the outside breaker box to protect everything...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Oops. It's the 18k, not the 24 that I'm referring to. Too much going on.

    Siemens QSA spd?

It would appear that Siemens QSA spd does not warranty anything plugged in. Apparently their spd is a pos. I emailed midnight solar with ?'s.

No signature. You can fill it out, but they want the tech's license #, name & company name.

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Before you pull the trigger on that 24k at amazon, you might wanna check out the floor/ceiling mount unit. They only sell it on senville's site and it's the only one on sale ($1,300 before tax/free ship). Why, I have no idea, but it's an aura series unit, so -22f in winter, 10 yr comp/5 yr...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

The hvac tech was once a co-worker of my neighbor who is basically and electrician and the guy, who with my help, who did the entire ac side of my hybrid solar inverter, transfer switch, etc. I would call them for sure. They are "verbally" cool with us doing everything and I had actually found...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Senville tech rep answer to my question... why is it recommended for mini split compressors to be protected from rain & sun when central hvac units no not recommend this... What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

No, not without this thermostat that I posted above, though there is that xye block right next to the control wire connections that nobody seems to know wtf that is (the thermostat they're sending does not connect to this block, but instead connects straight to the mother board).

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Shit. I haven't researched it at all. I'll try it out before I put wires in walls. Thanks 420. I just read the few reviews. At least they don't censor negative reviews. I've got pics and wiring instructions from home slice tech guy at Senville, so I might be in good shape. Does anyone happen...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Senville was what my research led me to. $1,300 for this unit + $50 tax + $150 for hvac guy (now they're warrantied 10/comp 5 all parts) $30 to pour pad + $15 for the breaker + $15 for concrete bolts & masonry bit and the wire was stolen from the central air unit downstairs. This is what they're...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

So, got this thing started today. My hvac guy connects the lines with noglock blue that prevents leaks, vacuums the system and does something else for $150. On cool mode, it was pulling 5.3 amps. It heats well and it cools well. The blower from my high efficiency zero clearance wood burning...

    Siemens QSA spd?

Ok, but what about pre-inverter? This qsa located inside the panel isn't going to do the inverter any good.

    Siemens QSA spd?

I've been on the hunt for a surge protector. I'm wondering if anyone has anything good or bad to write about this one. It was recommended to me from a tech at Siemens which is the manufacturer of my panel. They also recommended First Surge, but I like the QSA spd as it looks like it'd be a...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Yes they can. Originally, that's how I planned to mount it. There's sections of the sheet metal that can be punched out on all over the bottom and the back.

I set ac charge to charge the batteries for 3 hours. 5 of them were around 17%-19%. I've got'em programmed to dod 90% always but rarely ever get there. the sixth battery was the problem, behind by 15-20% recently. Now, it was at 0. What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

I am the worst. I bought another senville. the deal was good and I do think senville is towards the top of these mini's. it's almost complete and then the hvac tech that did my 1st mini will do this one early next week. I like the eg4 but cannot justify spending more loot on more panels and...

    Surge protection advice

Thanks for all the feed back fellas. I've lived in 5 homes in 4 different states and have never had any type of surge protector. I did replace the mother board in a fridge and a stove, both at the same house. 2 GE profile appliances that I bought while remodeling the house and the fridge was...

    Surge protection advice

I've installed a 2nd mini split and the company suggested I get a surge protector. I looked into this when putting together my solar system and my eyes started to cross, so I said screw it, I'll worry about it later. Rather than 2 separate protectors, I figured I'd shoot for a whole house unit...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

The nice thing about what this feature is supposed to do is shut the head unit's fan off once the set temp is reached. It doesn't, but it does use a stupid amount of power trying to do so, which is a double shot of stupid. If I do another mini, I'll give the EG4 a shot w/panels for it only...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

The new mother board was a waste of my time. No change. The "follow me" feature is really a "f my time and power use" feature. That what iit was the whole time.
