When do you get rid of your packaging?

    I bought six EG4 LifePower4 batteries...I kept one box. I still have my EG4 6000ex box in case it fails and I need a 6000xp for a replacement. :)

PV String Conundrum--Too many Amps and Volts for combiner box

Hence another reason I decided to buy a new combiner.

PV String Conundrum--Too many Amps and Volts for combiner box

Not trying to combine different voltage PV strings. I have four strings with 200watt panels at 279v/3.59a and one of 273.6v/10.82a. Was planning to connect two of the 200watt strings together in parallel and then connecting to combiner. I just bought a larger, more capable combiner with 6 inputs.

How do you have your batteries connected? Picture?

Eg4 draining batteries in broad daylight???

Per the SA settings above, battery type is user, so probably no communication.

Eg4 draining batteries in broad daylight???

You said you have two 6500 inverters...both with PV? Parallel? How are they configured?
  9. wildbillpdx

Eg4 draining batteries in broad daylight???

What is the power draw for the inverters? You are probably drawing more power than the panels can generate based on your SA screen.

Solar Assistant Default Login and Boot From USB SSD Issue

I've got a Pi3 attached to a 6000ex and six EG4 LifePower4 batteries. It's been working fine for me. I have a regular 15a outlet wired to my inverter which provides power to the Pi along with a small UPS to keep it running. From what I understand, there may not be a terminal interface on SA...

    EG4 6000EX User Settings

From page 4 of the LifePower4 battery manual: WARNING: Do NOT parallel batteries by using jumper wires on the terminals. This will cause high amperage in the final jumpers and potentially excessive amperage on the battery terminals.

Got my solar tax credits and my CPA says I can't use them, but I can sell them?? Help!

I am not wealthy but I installed solar for a number of reasons. First, it's good for the environment. Any power I produce for myself is completely clean energy. PGE uses natural gas and coal to generate some power, in addition to wind and solar so not completely green. Second, it reduces my...

PV String Conundrum--Too many Amps and Volts for combiner box

Found this Eco-Worthy 6 string combiner. https://www.ebay.com/itm/126284202507 It has a max of 15amps and 500vdc per string. Using this with all 5 strings at 25.18amps, would I be safe connecting to the EG4 6000ex with the 27amp limit on PV input?

PV String Conundrum--Too many Amps and Volts for combiner box

I think I'm going to need to drop one string from the combiner box to make this work. That would bring the amps down to 21.59 but leave my wattage at 5965. Still need some input on using the branch connector to join the combiner output with the last string to feed the inverter. Seems like it...

PV String Conundrum--Too many Amps and Volts for combiner box

I currently have four PV strings connected to a combiner box. I have a fifth string that I want to connect. The specs for the combiner box limits string input to 10a/250vdc per string. The new string is 10.82a/273.6vdc. I know I can't connect the string to the combiner. Can I connect the...

    PV Wattage

I can attest to the fact that the panels produce at higher rates. I have 20 x 200watt panels and saw this in Solar Assistant a few days ago:

Grid-tie solar producing more energy than needed

Yes, without an net metering agreement and all the needed approvals, they will be upset. You should either get an agreement or find some way to store the excess for use at other times.

    Eg4 6000ex single unit enough?

I recently saw a post on the forum about someone who got a refurb unit. The exterior was beaten and had holes drilled into it. It worked but looked like hell. I certainly don't want anything like that. I'll wait and maybe get a pair 6000xp inverters, if the the 6000ex fails. (Especially if...

    Solar mission creep.

Sounds like my project. Had to replace our roof, which required removing and replacing the existing grid-tied system. Left me with 21 Sanyo 200watt panels I just couldn't toss. Bought an EG4 6000ex and a couple of batteries, just to test. :) Today I have 6 EG4 LifePower4 batteries in a...

    Eg4 6000ex single unit enough?

I've seen several posts regarding the quality of the refurbished units. They work, but I'm not sure I'd buy one. I'm in a similar position, one 6000ex. I almost jumped on the EG4/Signature Solar upgrade to the 6000xp but realized the sunk cost of my 6000ex made that deal less desirable.

Adding More Panels to My Setup (EG4 6000ex)

I placed it earlier. Was afraid of losing another deal since I've had problems finding the right panels. I only need 8 so I'm not inclined to get an entire pallet.

Adding More Panels to My Setup (EG4 6000ex)

Nice idea, but I can't get a shipping estimate on the website. I'm paying $237 in shipping from SS for the 10 panels.

Adding More Panels to My Setup (EG4 6000ex)

Went back to SS and got them at a decent price and shipping. Cost for 10 panels with shipping was $1151.18...$91.39 each plus shipping. Happier now.

Adding More Panels to My Setup (EG4 6000ex)

Found these (370w) panels. Looks like 8 in series should work (8x34.2v= 273.6v@10.82a):

Adding More Panels to My Setup (EG4 6000ex)

Back on the hunt for panels. The REC panels I was going to purchase from SS now have a $2,500 shipping fee instead of $200. That makes shipping double the cost of the panels.

Adding More Panels to My Setup (EG4 6000ex)

I didn't doubt your answer... :) I was just amused at the response from SS. Just for the record, NOBODY sells the old panels (I do mean old...20yrs and then some.)

Adding More Panels to My Setup (EG4 6000ex)

I got a different response from Signature Solar: Since there in only one PV input that would not be able to work. You would have to use the same panels or panels with specs that are pretty much the same. Please let me know if you have any more questions!

Adding More Panels to My Setup (EG4 6000ex)

I was looking at the REC TwinPeaks. Here are the specs...looks like the 370w panels would be a good fit. I assume I'd just add the additional string to a combiner box?
