    To buy or to build

AND you can always add more components to it if you find yourself needing more power. When I started out, I thought a 50w array would power my life out here (it didn't). So I added a 200w array to the Honda... still wasn't enough. Then along came two 175w arrays... it FINALLY does the job, and I...

    Portable Solar Charger

They should have wires where the outer casing is either the red or black... but then having that extra inner casing with a small number showing you what voltage it's tied into. BTW I absolutely love the box build and layout! I also have a little collection of electricals to revive from the...

    Micro-PV Build

I wish his controllers could run that cool, but the motorhome is like a baked potato wrapped in tin-foil during the summer months (I've been in here when it's close to 38-40c). I bet the ambient temperatures and where the controllers are mounted would make a huge difference in temps while...

    Micro-PV Build

I know, these Victrons are pretty neat devices (my boss only uses Victron for our jobsites). Since China-zon already reimbursed the cost and Victron not replying to my e-mail inquiry, this one will only be used for experiment testing. I don't need all the bells and whistles in a controller; if...

    Micro-PV Build

I've thought of this myself, but with my controller's fault of mis-reading my battery voltage to 1volt, I'm not sure how far over 175w I should be pushing it. Although I do know these Victron's will get very warm the longer they're pushed past their limits. Our motorhome office at work utilizes...

    Micro-PV Build

If you had seen some of my other threads on problems I've been having with a Victron 100/20, you will know how much I HATE the connectors they come with. Well... I came up with a solution: ...and it HOLDS the cables in place! (kiitos to my boss's wife who previously came up with this design...

    Diy rv power with Ecoflow

Hey there! So sorry for the late reply (I didn't see this thread as a new post in time). I'm also looking into adding a River 2 Pro to my Honda's system (PowerQueen Mini batteries absolutely HATE inverters of all kinds) and will be powering most of my electronics through the Pro. It'll basically...

Can I charge my Ecoflow Delta (First Gen) from both my alternator and roof top solar panel?

We have a EcoFlow River 2 in the boss's motorhome and he wonders the same thing, too. On the River 2, though, it only has one XT60 behind it. He's thinking if he picks up an XT60 combiner (2 input plugs into one output) if that would allow it to charge from both the cig lighter and his 50w...

First build this summer, Canada, VW T4 lwb, 48V 100Ah or 1x 48V 50Ah now and add another later too be smoother with my budget build?

That's a neat little device. I also like how it has outlets used in different countries, too. You may be on to something here JohnD0h, good find! So I'm assuming you would need to plug in a regular charger from that to your batteries for getting them charged up? I'd think a 25A charger would...

Well that worked out well... in my head.

That is an amazing build! What kind of PWM are you running with and how much solar will you be using (if your using solar)?

(Looking for) MPPT with Bolt/Ring Terminal Screws

Just a quick update: we did get the Victron working! ...unfortunately, the cables are still quite loose, though we got the wires anchored to a board to restrict as much movement as possible. I still don't trust this particular device, though we're going to do some testing on smaller AGM...

Shunt snapped and caused a fire🔥

Those pictures are scary! Atleast it was only the garage and not the living quarters; also props to the wife for noticing the smoke when she did! If you do decide to rebuild the system the same way or have blueprints of your old one, I would revise those plans and scope the entire build to see...

Advice on buying 12V LiFePO4 in Europe?

Uh oh... I'm running two of their 100AH Minis on separate PV systems. I did find, however, they aren't too bad of battery IF absorbtion is set no highter than 14.1V. PowerQueen, Redodo, LiTime (formerly AmpereTime) and the other rebranded batteries don't get a proper cell balancing; it makes it...

(Looking for) MPPT with Bolt/Ring Terminal Screws

I haven't plugged into an AC source in a little over 3 years lol. Although with that option it is good insurance to have at hand. In case I did need to use shore power, I do have a 15A charger for backup, though that's only been seeing the starter battery @ 2A on miserably cold days (-30c and...

First build this summer, Canada, VW T4 lwb, 48V 100Ah or 1x 48V 50Ah now and add another later too be smoother with my budget build?

I have two Renogy 175 watt arrays on my SUV and had averaged 20.3A and 20.8A for over 90 minutes today. I'm currently in south-west Manitoba and my tilt mount is still far from getting a good angle with the sun. I've also attached both my panel specs below. The controller used was a CanadaProof...

(Looking for) MPPT with Bolt/Ring Terminal Screws

The user who recommends the DMT1230 and 50 does note the controller will only charge one method at a time. For example if your engine is running and the controller is receiving power from the vehicle's charging system, it will disable PV charging until the engine shuts down. Since I still have a...

    A little confused

Nope, an inline fuse does the same job as a fuse box. You won't need to add one to your build. Although a disconnect switch is always a good thing to have in there.

    A little confused

With your pump being DC, you wouldn't need an inverter unless you know for sure you would need to power an AC device. I would add a small fuse box (there are some four-slot boxes on China-zon) in case the pump should pull more than what it's rated for.

(Looking for) MPPT with Bolt/Ring Terminal Screws

I do use thread lock with my PWM controllers, they definitely make the connections stronger (without it, it's pretty strong as it is) but the extra bit is always nice to have.

    EP Cube Review

While it looks fancy, the cost is definitely a drive-away factor for me. I mean it costs more than my house (1997 CR-V); and if it costs more than my house, it better be 100% flawless lol, but of course nothing in the world is without problems. Not to mention, I don't think it would fit...

(Looking for) MPPT with Bolt/Ring Terminal Screws

I almost forgot lol... Its a Kisae DMT1230 DC/DC. While it's only a 30A model I'm interested in (couldn't find an aftermarket alternator that uses my connector for the Honda) they do go up to 50A. I'll add the link below. https://www.kisaepower.com/products/dmt1230/

(Looking for) MPPT with Bolt/Ring Terminal Screws

With a bit of dumb-luck, I found ONE MPPT that does use ring terminals and is also compatible with DC/DC charging. I'll disregard following this thread now, since I get heckled a lot. Thank you for all those who have made recommendations!

AGM battery charge profile for UPS usage only

Hey there! While I don't use Renogy chargers anymore (mine caught fire), my PWM is auto-set to 14.4V bulk/absorb and 13.3V float. While I've found great results with these charge settings, I might set the Renogy to 14.4V bulk/absorb and 13.2V float. Now anyone else, please feel free to correct...

    My first two systems

I know exactly what you mean! Some nights I sit in my SUV, looking at my install and having heated debates with my own thoughts as to what route I should go next as far as upgrades and system tweaks go. Before I realize it, 4 hours have went by and I still hadn't come up with any clear idea yet...

    SES Flexcharge?

They are interesting. I would recommend checking their products out if one was building a smaller-sized system and DIY mini-projects. I might even consider that NC25A a try for my 18AH AGM.

    My first two systems

Lol you definitely can't be over-careful. I remember my first install had solar clamps on the battery 'screws' not posts, inverter clips and 6 or 7 other things loosely clipped onto that. I think then the only fuses I had were the ones in my car's fuse box lol. I wasn't a very smart beginner.

    SES Flexcharge?

I checked out their Flexcharge NC25A and ran into this little bit: "With a peak charging efficiency of 99.9% and an operating current of only 4mA, more of the systems charging energy will get through a NC25A into your batteries than with any other controller on the market. Models are available...

    Kepworth 12v 300Ah "mini" $550 (15.1x7.5x9.6 or 385x190x245mm)

You've given me some new homework. I didn't know they make 300AH in such a small form factor. Now I'm the one wondering if this would be better to use than the PowerQueen.

    Kepworth 12v 300Ah "mini" $550 (15.1x7.5x9.6 or 385x190x245mm)

    My first two systems

I like your setup; its a lot better than what I started out with. I'm jealous you were able to get that Victron installed (mine wouldn't even get a tight grip to my cables). How has your PWM controller been doing with the system so far? Some protection throughout the system is definitely a...
