the 6500ex was a pain, QA passed, and the unauthorized chip changes with covered-up EEPROM failures. we are still battling for a final stable landing of the situation but are committed to full resolution, unlike the other retailers who cut and ran when this hit them. My RD team costs us millions of dollars, we find fixes that the original devs sometimes can't; we are always going to come out of pocket and get to the root fix no matter what the cost and net profit turns out to be.James, I really hope that the release of this model marks a new trend with SS and EG4 in terms of QA before products are released. Seems that the EG4-6500EX took several months in the field before the issues with it has settled down which speaks to a QA issue prior to product release. And the 8K model, well, that hasn't seemed to have settled as yet as evidenced by Will's videos on that model. I'm rooting for EG4....lot's of potential but some tweaks needed overall to make the brand phenomenal.
Also working on full web-based monitoring free upgrade. You'd think a $20B ODM wouldn't do this junk but it turns out the best luck is with smaller players so far.
Bottom line last year we improved value in the budget space by 25% and features alongside and when an inevitable problem hit the 6500 space we stayed in and paid/worked out the rear to get it under control. Not a sexy ride but glad to have stood in the gap in my book
