Some observations on wildlife. I live in a forest with a wetland nearby. Just before totality, frogs in the wetland started to croak. Bats from tge forest began to fly and a Barred owl hooted. My chickens hid under solar panels until my family came out and they stood next to us. No wind, deathly...

This was very near to totality, behind clouds.

  • Post in thread: National Standard of the People's Republic of China (English version)

CODE of China Everyone might find this interesting. The site contains the Standards of how the Chinese Gov. and Manufacturers view Lithium cells including their sub class ratings and how they are coded via QR codes. There is a ton information, much of it you have to pay for (sadly $810.00...
  • Post in thread: Need help on Pouch cells to recover battery and its overall bank.

Awesome guys! Thanks for the help. I couldn't identify it or find the maker. Thank you very much. As for the battery, it was a special deal I had with CHINS and didnt have a warranty with it. No big deal. I wanted to learn, so I opened it.
  • Post in thread: Solar panels to bus bars

I do have disconnects and forty amp fuses in place as protection for the mppt's. While I didn't include the safety features on my rough drawing they (disconnects and fuses) would be in place post bus bars, but before the mppt's. I have disconnects and fuses on each array as well.
  • Post in thread: Solar panels to bus bars

Thanks for the reminder. I still have room on the VOC end so I will make a goal of not exceed 90v VOC as a safety measure.
  • Post in thread: Raspberry Pi 4B as monitoring unit for EG4 3000 EHV 48

Awesome! Thanks for the confirmation and link.

Current I use an Iota 24v 40amp charger running on a geny. However I have considered the set up you just have suggested to get away from gas. I my Flooded battery bank also has an attached 24v 30amp wind generator attached but I don't see much use from it as there isn't a lot of wind to...
  • Post in thread: Chins vs Li Time vs? Wow, battery prices!

Ultimately your question is dependent on who responds with what kind of experience they have had with either company. While I have considerable knowledge of CHINS 12.8v 100ah batteries without low temp cutoff (my battery bank is inside the house), I have zero experience with the LiTime. In my...
  • Post in thread: Solar panels to bus bars

I will draw out the entire system this evening and post it. The Bus Bars I have are Mofees 48v 250amp these seem to work well and I have yet to feel heat on these while in action.
  • Post in thread: Battery bank calculation and programming value for MT-50

Hi Bentley, thanks for clarifying my poor understanding of all things solar. You hit the nail on the head of exactly what I attempted to write. So I have some brief reprogramming to do. Thank you again for your response and being able to decipher my craziness.
  • Post in thread: Solar panels to bus bars

Funny enough your thinking about arrays facing east and west to catch the majority of rays is exactly what I am after arrays wise. Next week I start to work on this very issue. 6 panels (100w 22.56VOC 5.50Isc) East; 6 panels (100w 22.56VOC 6.56Isc) South; facing, 6 panels (100w 22.50VOC 5.50Isc)...

@LakeHouse & @AHTrimble, thank you for your knowledge and the help through an expanded explanation. Will keep the current systems in place and rethink my needs.

  • Post in thread: EG4 3000 EHV 48 Solar Harvesting

Thank you for your response. By numerical values I have configured the solar array to work out to 425 VOC. On the VMP end of things I was wondering what others are harvesting under wintery days. I live in up state ny and our winter days are absolute crap unless the temperature falls into the...

  • Post in thread: Solar panels to bus bars

I have two arrays. Each array has six panels. The panels are wired as 2S3P on each array. Currently I have each array connected to it's own Epever Tracer 4210an. Each MPPT feedings it's own battery bank. Bank #1 is 24v Flooded 660amp. Bank#2 24v Lifepo4 400amp. Is it possible to tie in all...

Did you build the box yourself or buy it? if you built it, do you mind posting a pic of it. it may be something I need to replicate.

  • Post in thread: Solar panels to bus bars

I should mention, I did take into account VOC, amperes, volts on wire gauge size and fusing limitations. Electrically (by means of flowing energy per parameter limitations of all components) it appears to work. I also thought of including a four way switch with relays to automate the whole...
  • Post in thread: Solar panels to bus bars

Which is something I considered. However, for prolonged deep winter weeks. I do have a gas powered geny running a 24v 40amp Iota charger with IQ4 attachment and additional IQ4 Li attachment incase I need it for the lithium bank.
  • Post in thread: 18650 Battery Store

I ordered 18 LF280K cells from 18650 on April 5th, 2024, paid in full ($1,889.32) incl. shipping. I've heard from them twice via email. Once to provide a data sheet for the cells and a second to respond why my cells have not shipped. I was told that they would look into this and prioritize the...

  • Post in thread: EG4 3000 EHV 48 Solar Harvesting

Thanks for the reply. The information on the EG4 3000 matching the Victron CC is encouraging to hear. South Florida? Must be nice having all that sun down there. I'm in upstate NY and this years winter has been bleak. Usually we have some decent sun when the weather drops and stays cold but this...

  • Post in thread: 18650 Battery Store

The document they sent me is what EVE has published for their Overall Standard on the cell type. According to the 18650 Battery Store website, they state if you request the test data they will send it out. I did this but received the other document I just described. GB/T 36276-2018 (National...
