To add a different perspective; refrigerators are so much more efficient now than they were twenty years ago. I recently purchased a 27cu refer, inverter based, and it draws less energy than the 10cuft Sunfrost refer I owned years ago. No doubt there are more efficient ones available but this...
REMINDER TO ALL! : The aluminum cases of the EVE batteries are conductive, and you should NEVER use conductive materials (like hose clamps) to strap/bind cells. If the strapping wears through the blue covering (it will) or worse through the aluminum case (it can) then short circuits can occur...
I found a IR temperature gun to be very helpful in testing connections. Push some amps through the battery and test temps at each connection point and connections with higher resistance show up in a hurry.
I was able to recover 48 of the 64 cells. I first charged them slowly at 5A until voltage came up from 0 to 3, then charged them fully at 30A to 3.65V. I did a capacity test then recharged. Capacity of the cells I tested was > 260AH . They are now back in service and working okay. Will be...
It would be good to post the evidence you may have. Would hate to see a company that has built a solid reputation on this forum damaged by a rumor without solid evidence.
A shout out to Alkaline for spotting this and taking the time to share his/her observations and knowledge. Its individuals contributions like this that make this forum informative. I have asked for a clarification from Oneier. Perhaps there is a good explanation, stay tuned.
Note that the cases of the EVE cells are conductive and if the plastic coating is scratched you can get a current path between cells if you have conductive materials in contact with multiple cases. I found this out the hard way (short between cell cases resulting in overheating and a fire). So...
Alkaline was correct (sharp eyes!). The cells were manufactured in April after EVE started labeling non automotive cells with a B on QR code. This no doubt caused problems for resellers who had marketed these as non automotive A cells. Problems yield solutions, but not always the right ones ...
Looks great. Highly recommend that you cover the threaded rods, the threads cut through the aluminum cases like a hot knife through butter. Pex pipe does a good job.
Does anyone know what triggers the Growatt 3000 to exit float mode and resume bulk charging?
After powering on my system and connecting the array, bulk charging commences until absorption setpoint is reached and then charging goes to volt mode. But what triggers the resumption of bulk charging...
If you want to increase PV production/energy harvest you might try setting 5 to USE, 19 to 28.5 (3.55v/cell) and setting 20 to 27.5. I don't think this will prevent the Growatt from turning off at the end of the absorption charge but you will be pushing battery voltage higher and away from the...
I had the exact same problem and could not find the software for download on the Growatt website. I contacted the US distributor and he directed me to https://www.watts247.com/manuals/gw/SoftwareCD/PV%20Keeper/where I was able to download a version which did not work. Luckily I was able to...
Diving in on building an off grid PV system for a vacation home in Baja. Building in a remote location so simplicity, redundancy, ability to monitor remotely, easy to " swap out"should there be problems are important criteria. Size/weight is also a consideration as need to drive the components...
I believe that th 5KW MMP all in one has a max voltage input of 145VDC and minimum of 60V (assuming 48V model); 3 panels in series would work with a little margin of safety.. 4 parallel strings of 3 panels in series.
The rocker switch turns off only the inverter portion, does not affect the MPPT charger. In other words you can turn of the inverter but batteries will still charge from solar.
Working as designed; no doubt. All in ones perform many functions; inverter, AC charger, MPPT PV charger, solid state transfer switch. That's a lot of different functions to manage via firmware and settings and for the most part Growatt does a brilliant job. It makes sense for AC charger to...
Thanks; I could not find mention of it in the manual, (the manual leaves lots to the imagination.)
As I have a fairly large array relative to my current loads, I quickly move through bulk charge, to absorption and then float. But after a while in float, it goes into a "fully charged" mode...
Okay, got my curiosity going. I took a 8X magnifying lens and looked at all 16 QR codes. All are positioned exactly the same position on the background metal. Under the lens there is no apparent edge (ie no sticker unless its super thin) . The writing is clearly made by tiny little indents in...
Below is the QR code for EVE 280K cell I recently received. Curious to hear from folks that have figured out the code if this is an A grade or B grade cell and when manufactured.
The deeper question, for solar storage application with relatively low C rates and maintaining SOC between 30-90%...
I needed qty 16 EVE 280K cells in a rush and my normal supplier was out of stock at their US warehouse. Searched on Alibaba and found Shenzhen Oneier Technology Co advertising Grade "A" Eve 280K cells with stock in US warehouse. I reached out and was contacted by Lucia Luo. She was responsive...
