Haven't used my gas generator in 5 years. Other than an annual test run and servicing, it just sits there. Every outage we have had has been covered by my solar/battery/inverter setup.
Who cares how long the car will last? The market for used Tesla batteries will be enormous! Even if the cars last 200,000 miles the battery will still retain 80% of it's usable life. A huge industry will grow up around these batteries.
Some promising research on rejuvenating old LFP batteries:

I wish them good luck
I noticed. For some reason the Sahara sand/dust is supposed to impede the creation of hurricanes so to heck with lower solar production, if it stops hurricanes I am all for it!
I live in FL and built a system with a 6.7kwh, 24v LFP battery, 1,000 watts of solar panels, 1,500 watt PSW inverter. Nothing is mounted. All has extra protection and stored away. The idea is to allow for lights, refrigerator, fans, etc. When power goes down. A generator can be run as/if needed...
Perhaps. Deleting messages has a positive aspect also. I suggest not fixating on the things you don't like and emphasizing the things you do. You will be a much happier person. There are many things in life you have no control over.
I would emphasize the backup hardware. While it is nice to have tier 1 hardware (and i have a bit), even tier 1 kit fails. Sometimes by no fault of its own. If you spend everything one your primary gear and have nothing left over for "plan B", God help you when the unexpected happens. I went...
I always wondered why anyone would deal with these door to door sales types. Typically the best companies do not need to advertise or cold call. They are so busy from word of mouth from their previous customers they don't need to resort to these tactics.
When dealing with big dollar purchases...
I think most here are suggesting batteries bigger than you need. I use a 12v, 20Ah lifepo4 battery for my CPAP when camping and for power outages. Get the OEM 12v cord, not the after market one. A folding 100w solar panel and PWM charge controller should keep it charged if your usage is anything...
Not sure how a single 100w panel could fry their built in SCC. Seems like it might have had a defect. If it were mine I would replace it with my own SCC. Find one that fits your space and electrical requirements. If their ~!@#$% is that bad I don't think I would want to go with another original...
After surviving hurricane Andrew in 1992, I will keep my panels indoors, covered up. Lost most of the roof in Andrew, had someone else's roof in the front yard, my father's truck was upside down, mine was Swiss cheese, no way to get additional gas for generators, roads blocked and debris...
Please don't spend any money expanding the HF system. If it is still working, use it until it quits, then scrap it. I would not try to repurpose any parts. Start building your second/replacement system with an eye towards future expansion.
Fortunately for me I already had most of the tools. I previously had no need to make very large custom cables so I only had crimpers capable of handling up to 8 ga. wire. Everything else was acquired over the decades of building everything I could. The problem for me is the batteries. Everything...
I have seen test video where they have been massively over charged. They did swell up, breaking the case, then vent some rather evil looking gas, but they did not combust. I would be more worried about a short circuit or under gauged wire causing a fire.
So Daly said they would set LVD to 2.5v for me but now Ali won't take my credit card. Same card I have used in the past and that they have on file. Want photos of card, DL, and cc statement. No f___ing way. Next...
$180 for a 100w, 12v panel? I have never paid more than $89.
Keep in mind you will not get a true 100w from a 100w panel. That is only going to (possibly) happen in lab conditions. Also, your panels aren't going to be tracking the sun. At best, you are likely to get 85w per panel. 4 panels would...
