Thanks! Just the kind of info I was looking for!
  • Post in thread: Sand Battery Experement

My system will be stand-alone as well, completely separate from my main solar array.
  • Post in thread: Sand Battery Experement

This is what I need help with in my calculations. I have a total of at least ten 240W & 250W panels to use for this project. I'm not sure if I need to combine them and how many to use per element? My elements are rated at 2600W each.
  • Post in thread: Sand Battery Experement

Good idea. Now that I recall, I think the YouTube battery theory guy talked about it.
  • Post in thread: Storing heat in sand?

For my experiment, I was thinking of using separate pipes inserted into the heated sand and simply recirculate the air into my home using a fan. I also would try using a water pump, piping, and a radiator in a closed loop.

    Thanks for the reply!
  • Post in thread: Math Help Needed for Mixed Panel Arrays!

Yes, the inverter has 2 separate built in charge controllers. The additional 6 strings would operate on the other charge controller. The total would be 12 strings divided between 2 charge controllers.
  • Post in thread: Killed my Batteries?

Would you mind explaining using a pre-charged resistor? I have heard of this but do not know much about it.
  • Post in thread: EG4 48V setup without server rack

Greetings! My EG4 48V 100Ah batteries have arrived! I have 3 and will place them in parallel for 300Ah total. I am using an MPP 6048 Split Phase Hybrid Inverter. I did NOT order the server rack that goes with these as my budget could not afford it. I called Signature Solar today and discussed...
  • Post in thread: Storing heat in sand?

What would be the best way to heat the sand using solar - heat resistive wires dispersed throughout the storage container?
  • Post in thread: 18650's - best supplier?

Can I get recommendations on where to buy affordable 18650's to build a powerwall? I am planning on needing 200 or so for my first build. Are there better LiFePo batteries for the price to build home Powerwalls than the 18650's? Thanks!
  • Post in thread: Solar setup needed to run RV AC 13,500BTU

Im also going with Polyiso to get the high R value. Yes, it is a HUGE task to say the least. I look at it as therapy, lol. One step closer to getting on the road full-time. I actually don't mind projects. I posted the second video as you replied with this. I know he did say in his videos he...
  • Post in thread: Solar setup needed to run RV AC 13,500BTU

At the end of the last video it showed the mini set at 74 degrees with the Kill O Watt meter reading at 280 Watts.
  • Post in thread: Killed my Batteries?

Yes, I used circuit breakers. It is all my fault. I did check to see that I was putting them in parallel, but did not check good enough. My cables coming from the batteries are Anderson connectors. Pos and neg are color coded at the plug, not by wire color. I thought I had looked correctly at...
  • Post in thread: How to go from 12V to 24V system in RV

Ill be happy to show and tell when its done. Estimated time of completion is sometime this summer.
  • Post in thread: How to go from 12V to 24V system in RV

I've wondered about doing just that. Do you have info on how to make that work? Would you use the mini-split as a heat exchanger??
  • Post in thread: Mini Split AC

I have kept my eye on that one too! Very high Seer rating. I also like that it constantly runs instead of cutting on and off all the time which would waste alot of energy.
  • Post in thread: Storing heat in sand?

Thanks for your suggestions! I was concerned about resistive wiring getting too hot. Is it easy to attach radiator baseboards to solar panels?
  • Post in thread: Trying to buy 206 AH SOK batteries, but SOK asked me to "delay until next month"

It must be. I am going to check with them again today.
  • Post in thread: Aluminum busbar instead of copper?

Greetings! I'm thinking about making my own busbars for my three EG4 48V 100Ah server rack batteries. I am wanting to buy local from a Lowes or Home Depot as it will take weeks for copper bars to arrive where I live if I order online. 1. It was suggested that I can crush copper pipes flat to...
  • Post in thread: Trying to buy 206 AH SOK batteries, but SOK asked me to "delay until next month"

I ordered 4 206Amp batteries in early December at $1059 a piece. I have not received them yet. I checked with them & they said payment was good. Anyone else in the same boat?
  • Post in thread: Math Help Needed for Mixed Panel Arrays!

Greeting again! I got all the panels lined up in the configurations suggested and am just about ready to attach everything. I have the proper blocking diodes on each positive end of all strings. I am now ready to attach all strings in parallel and power my system. Question 1: I have 14 sets...
  • Post in thread: SOK Battery Setup Questions

Snoobler, I'm on an android phone and cannot find your Wiring signature link. Would you post the link directly?
  • Post in thread: Tesla Cybertruck System

I am planning on getting Tesla's Cybertruck in the next 2 years. I would like to prepare a DIY home charging station for it now. I live in sunny Arizona. What would I need to be able to charge it at home off-grid? What size inverter? How many solar panels? What can I buy/make on my own & what...
  • Post in thread: Trying to buy 206 AH SOK batteries, but SOK asked me to "delay until next month"

I contacted SOK about the delay on Jan 7 and they responded. They said the same to me as others here reported: their shipment is delayed because it is stuck in Long Beach. They said to expect them to be shipped by mid January. Does anyone know why a shipment would be stuck in Long Beach for...
  • Post in thread: SOK Battery Setup Questions

Greetings! I ordered four 12V 206Ah SOK LiFePo batteries to use in my solar setup. I plan on using a 48V system. 1. I heard that busbars are the way to go for connecting the batteries together for 48V. Are there recommendations of busbars that will easily fit the 206Ah SOK's? 2. Once I...

  • Post in thread: Solar setup needed to run RV AC 13,500BTU

This is the system Im thinking of getting.
  • Post in thread: Sand Battery Experement

Here are my results with the panels flat. I however adjust them every month & I do not have shading. My guess is that I will have at least 5-6 hours per day in the winter.
  • Post in thread: 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Battery For Sale

I am posting here to see if there is any interest in my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Battery. The Escape itself still runs & could be driven to your location. The vehicle has multiple problems at 350,000+ miles and it's time to retire it. As far as I know, the battery is still good so the resale is...
