Here's my final build. It turned out really nice. It's super clean, I'm really happy with it. Thanks for all the help! I decided to not place it against the heater and I mounted it across the pass through. The existing 12v system in the trailer is working great (😅). I have not hooked up the...
From reading Will's book, it sounds like I could safely use 2 AWG to go from the batteries to the bus bar, and then use 2/0 to the inverter. Is htis correct?
Here has been my plan:
The negative had 3 connections to the battery terminal:
One connecting the two batteries (this can be discarded now that I have bus bars)
One going to the solar charge controller (this will now go directly to the negative bus bar)
One going to the frame. I will be...
Thank you. Per your advice, and everyone else's, I have come up with this. The 150a fuses are MRBF, the 200a fuse is class T. I oversized the wire between batteries and bus bar, just to be safe. I also added a disconnect heading to the inverter just so I can shut it off completely if I need to...
What is the proper way to do this with everything hooked up to the disconnect? I saw Will's video () - do I need to what he's showing before I connect the negative on the inverter? What about when I want to toggle the disconnect?
I have 3 of these. It does have a BMS but it does say "Discharge Current: 100amp. Max Discharging Current: 280 amp (5 second). Should I maybe put a 150amp fuse on each battery then to help protect this?
Ok awesome, this helps a lot. Thanks!
Yes, the 8 AWG that goes to the trailer goes directly to a fuse for the trailer. The additional items I am adding are just for the inverter.
Also one last question, unrelated to the previous post. Here's a run through on where I plan to place and mount the battery box - it is on the other side of our heater. Is this OK? https://jmp.sh/DWRk4zaH - would it help if I added some foam insulation on the back side of my battery box? Any...
With my setup (3x 100ah batteries) in 12v configuration and the 2000 watt inverter, what size fuse would you put on each battery between the bus bar? And what size wire would you use from the batteries to the bus bar?
Hello,
I'm swapping out my 2x lead acid batteries on my trailer with 3x Lifepo4 batteries (and adding a shunt/inverter), and I wanted to get some input. The trailer currently has 8 AWG wire going from the battery (positive) to the disconnect. I am wanting to add a 2000 watt inverter. From what...
I ordered this Class T fuse from Blue Sea Systems. It has some discoloration on one end. Has it been used? Is it OK to use or should I return it and get another one?
That makes sense. What would the recommend size wire be if I were to write each battery to the bus bar? I'm assuming I'd still need 2/0 from the busbar to the inverter though.
I currently have a travel trailer that has 100w of solar and 2 64ah AGM batteries. I am updating this to a total of 400w of solar and 300ah of lifep04. There is existing wiring for the solar panels/charge controller, brake-away switch, and the 12v system in the rv. I will be adding: a shunt...
I don’t have my solar installed yet, and I’m pretty sure the converter installed on my trailer doesn’t support lithium. I have an ac adapter charger that I purchased from the battery manufacturer that clips directly onto the battery terminals. What is the best way to go about charging them...
Here's what I've built - I'm just waiting for the class T fuse to test everything. I just thought I'd see if anyone has any last minute feedback: https://jmp.sh/4tuiYAmL
This will get installed in the pass through of our trailer, and then I'll also tie in the existing 12v electrical system into...
There were three wires connected to the negative terminal of the battery: one went to the other battery, one went to the solar charge controller, and the other is bolted to the frame (photos attached). What changes should I make here? Should I send my 1/0 wire from my shunt to the frame as the...
