How to tell the difference between Grade A and Grade B cells. AND why you should always pay with CREDIT CARD.
Going to make this sort of in bullet form – otherwise this will go on for many of pages of rambling which this will probably be anyway..
Before I start …25C is 77F – the perfect...
so I was watching a little YOUTUBE to get ready for the night shift ... YEP spending New Years Eve on a 24 hour shift out here in the Middle of South Texas as the On-Call technician ... just me - 200 Coyotes (dogs not smugglers) and a bunch of drillers and rough necks that really just needed a...
So my boss this morning stopped by the DONCAN warehouse (Doncan Technology (Shenzhen) Co) in Houston TEXAS to pick up (64) EVE-280Ah batteries that we had ordered literally 48 hours earlier.
From beginning to end this has been a 10 out of 10 process.
First it started with Jenny Wu of Doncan...
So last week they flew 2 of us back to SFO to meet with some of the CATL folks to give us a demo of the sodium-ion batteries that will probably be hitting the market late 2022 but for sure mid 2023.
The first 15 minutes of the conference was them explaining how LFP batteries - which they have...
So my boss who has a PhD in Chemical Engineering went to China on business about a month ago and visited one of the largest LiFePO4 battery manufacturers in the world that we use. They gave him a very good tour and today we reciprocated their hospitality by hosting their Lead Design Engineer who...
OK ... so of course I am a glutton for punishment and obviously after kicking over the beehive on my last post -- https://diysolarforum.com/threads/3142-00-for-32-280ah-3-2v-grade-a-fresh-manufactured-delivered-by-alithor-new-energy-co.20063/ where i found the batteries for (32) for 3143 i...
Sorry for the title - seemed to be a little clickbait after I posted it ... I was going to go with Chinese New Year – or what I call “Where the ^$%^ is my battery shipment?” but that was toooo long
SOOOO every year we go through this TOPIC so going to try to help you. Hoping to make this short...
Hats off to @jasonhc73
Below are (2) two Reference manuals that I have used extensively for the last couple of years. These were actually issued to us in my EE 101 classes BUT I highly recommend every solar enthusiast should have them handy as a reference. They literally do a great job...
Short story made long … one of the sub-contractors we have came into the TECH shop today with a ton of BBQ and asked if we had a moment could we help him eat some of the BBQ and also take a look at why he was NOT getting the charging he use to get off his panels on his RV … SO 15 minutes later...
@Off-Grid-Garage
I just wanted to take a moment and honestly say thanks to @Off-Grid-Garage for taking so much time and effort in making the videos that he does. Its hard to realize how small (or large) this world really is - but I highly doubt that Andy ever thought that the videos he was...
So last Tuesday i was out working with the guys laying the new pipeline when one of them asked me if i knew what "this" was. "This" turned out to be (what I guess to be) a 200aH 12.8V LiFePO4 battery that consisted of 4 x 3.2.
The battery was utterly destroyed I thought.
It had been connected...
HOW TO KILL A BATTERY (PART#2)
So my boss who has a PhD in Chemical Engineering went to China on business about a month ago and visited one of the largest LiFePO4 battery manufacturers in the world that we use. They gave him a very good tour and today we reciprocated their hospitality by...
I posted part of this as a response earlier on another part of this Forum but I thought I would share here ...
I got thrown into Solar completely unexpected and had to hit the ground running - and honestly - knew ZERO about solar anything ... Although this is a DIY site for mostly homeowners -...
As you can imagine I get a tremendous amount of our battery stuff we use at work out of China. Mostly because of availability first and then prices second.
One of our lead buyers that lives in China is saying that shipping cost has increased by about 300% from last year - China to LAX and this...
So awhile back we ran across this Gentlemen @Off-Grid-Garage ... he's from Australia via Germany I think is pretty entertaining ... he has a UTUBE channel ... YES from an EE perspective some of his stuff is kinda cringe worthy -- BUT from an overall SOLAR learning experience I would have to...
So I say this after having hooked up well over 25 MPP Solar systems at work ... so this is not one of those bitching for no reason type things (well it actually is) ... BUT .....
The MPP Solar is an excellent system - until its not.
Until you need customer support.
Until you try to read one...
WOW - so much has changed in the last year getting batteries from China -- and especially XUBA ...
First the outside of the box has about a roll of high tensile tape to keep it from ever opening during shipment ..
THEN when you do start to cut open the box you are met with this ... Pretty...
So Will seems to be using the same AC that we use for the workers trailers that we support. Our Toshiba 6000 BTUs are all running off of solar and does a great job augmenting some of the older trialers A/Cs that just doens't do what they use to do ... I had one of the guys send some photo's...
OK - so I will let you know how this turns out -- incredible price ... did allot of research into Alithor New Energy company and they are a BATTERY MANUFACTURER and not a reseller or vendor. They say that they will test each battery before shipping for all the tests that I require ... they sent...
Besides being one of the very best solar generator videos ever produced -- its also one of the most PROFESSIONAL I have ever seen on YT or anywhere ... this is a great video for those wanting to create a portable solar generator ... I/we have copied (and modified) his idea many times ...
So we have a four day weekend starting today and one of the Security guys invited us all to his ranch near Austin to hang out and fish, horseback ride, swim, and eat 4 days of Free BBQ ... (He had me at BBQ) ... anyway the only condition was that during that time we would help him put up a small...
I'm as excited as a virgin on prom night !!
The new updated ver 4.00 Chargery manual (earlier was v3.02) is online and with great improvements. Our own @Steve_S did a phenomenal job working with Jason (Chargery) to help take a good manual - update it - add excellent pictures and add a smoother...
As Solar Rat will state below - The HT206A can NOT read DC amps through the clamp, so definitely get the D model!
OK - so FIRST I have absolutely nothing to do with this company nor am I a reseller of any sort
Second - NO this does not compare to the $300 FLUKE you are going to compare it to...
I am talking about the EPSOLAR Tracer 30A 40A MPPT Solar Charge Controller 3215BN 4215BN
So we have done allot of weird testing with the EPSOLAR line of SCC. These things are literally bulletproof. We have had a couple 4510BN running at 150% of their rated capacity for almost 6 months and no...
Came across this today ... seems to be a very good tutorial for newbies and anyone else who wants to build one .... unfortunately you have to watch the video in order to get the parts list (there's no list in the comments but they are on the video) .. a couple of things I would do different like...
I and a few others have been recommending the following item:
AT THIS TIME I CAN NO LONGER PERSONALLY RECOMMEND EITHER THE COMPANY, THE STORE, NOR THE PRODUCT.
BUYER BEWARE...
