Holds 6 EG4 Lifepower4. Purchased Busbars from SS. Were not long enough so used 2 on each side connected with 1 Gauge wire in the middle. Works great and batteries balanced perfectly.

Liked this Panel rack from Signature Solar. Combined 5 of them to make this one large rack. Did not like the fact that the design did not include support for the front so I came up with this. Very solid but will also secure it with cables at the place it mounts to the 6 by 6 posts in case the...

    Hope this helps.
  • Post in thread: Midnight Solar

I hope these things work! House and Solar System completely protected, just in time for spring Thunderstorms!
  • Post in thread: 6500EX-Another one bites the dust.

Well after many weeks of random trouble shooting the conclusion has come that my 6500EX inverters are defective,(Surprise)! Been authorized store credit. Will be replacing with 2 EG4 6000XPs. Anyone who would not recommend these inverters please speak up. Excuse me while I go and rewire...

  • Post in thread: EG4 6000XP Upgrade

It was just unreliable with issues. Flickering lights etc. The nail in the coffin for me was when for no reason when my split phase 240V well pump kicked on and one of the inverters decided to go offline which meant the other inverter was still providing 120V to a 240V motor. There was no other...
  • Post in thread: 18 month DIY project finally done: 39kW inverter power off grid system

So how long have you worked for Nasa? SpaceX could use you!!
  • Post in thread: Brightmount Rack

It varies a little bit per section. I placed post on each end and one in the middle. The middle was used to support the 2x8 supports Everything was done on the fly with the design in my head. Adjustments were made as it was put together. Got closeup pictures if you need them.
  • Post in thread: Solar as a hobby ROI.

Your state wants to go entirely renewable. No way that will work.
  • Post in thread: Solar as a hobby ROI.

I agree with you that solar and wind is not the answer.
  • Post in thread: EMP

I am going solar because I feel our grid is very vulnerable to our enemies and could be taken out anytime. If that happens we are screwed. Our country has been very stupid and has not spent resources on protecting it, plus it is being attacked all the time. I want to be able to have a few...
  • Post in thread: Solar as a hobby ROI.

I started building my system last fall. Got it up and running. I predict I could be completely off grid 5 to 6 months a year. This is not a hobby to me but a way of insuring I have power when or if our grid goes down for a long period of time. Been working on my prepper skills just in case. Plus...
  • Post in thread: PV lightning protection

I know that surge suppressors will not protect against lightning so yes I am only interested in protecting against the big strike. Just want to get it right. Will be getting an electrician out here asap to guide me in the right direction. You busy? Feel like a nice drive to sunny southern...
  • Post in thread: Proper Grounding.

That answers all my questions and then some. The electrician I had come out said separate the bond at main breaker if I want? but I always thought as you are telling me. I just think it is weird to have the neutral go to ground in the main panel. Thank you Timselectric. Wish you worked in my area!

Glad you approve. I have learned a lot from your videos.
  • Post in thread: Midnight Solar

    Glad I invested in them.
  • Post in thread: Solar has been hijacked/co opted. A wakeup?

Started looking into solar in 2020. Was totally thinking net metering but I got smart and went independent, (no government involvement). Our government is not for the people! ROI was never my thinking. Saw the writing on the wall and ALSO preparing as best I can. You have good insight on the...
  • Post in thread: EG4 6000XP Upgrade

Yeah I knew that . I need it to have 4. The charge controller you are showing me has only one solar input. Wish it had 2. Thanks
  • Post in thread: 6500EX-Another one bites the dust.

Thanks Jared. What complaints have you heard? What I'm hearing is good, but the unknown is always good to know.
  • Post in thread: Brightmount Rack

18 Bluesun 460W Bifacial and 4 Canadian Solar 280W. 4 Bluesun will not fit on 1 rack but the Canadian panels will. Had to add on about a foot to get all panels on. Your idea sounds good but I would still find a way of securing the front. Just did not like the idea of all that weight on those...
  • Post in thread: EG4 6500 Slow Charging

No I know what is going on when that happens. This is the fans speeding up and slowing down when the skys are clear. Not very bad but noticeable. Like a sine wave sort of.
  • Post in thread: Brightmount Rack

Thanks, got more pictures from start to finish if you need them.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6000XP Upgrade

Thing is I can get by with 6000 Watts because I am not running my heat pump or hot water heater on my critical loads panel. But you are correct I should probably bite the bullet and get the second one!
  • Post in thread: Proper Grounding.

Know someone who could use it.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6500 Slow Charging

Not sure but will pay attention next time it happens. I have the lights flickering also. Have not narrowed that down yet. Might be cheap LED bulbs but my fridge incandescent flickers when charging. Do you still have your 2 6500s and are they doing ok? Also SS is refunding me for the Lifepower...
  • Post in thread: EG$ 6500 understanding settings

Maybe this has been discussed already? Been having all kinds of problems with my inverters shutting down and stopping charging etc. Turns out I was putting in the wrong amp setting in step 41. I thought that setting was for each inverter, but it turns out it was for both inverters combined. That...
  • Post in thread: Midnight Solar

Yeah, who cares if they work. Chicks dig it.
  • Post in thread: Grounding batteries

Yeah I've got the Lipos. Also have my inverters supplied from the main panel for backup, so I guess that is sort of grid tied. Probably a good idea to put one on the Batts. Don't think fuses are quick enough but I could be wrong, plus they wouldn't be hooked to ground. Thanks
  • Post in thread: Solar as a hobby ROI.

When you said 40 to 60 cents per KWH I said where the heck due you live? I pay 10 to 11 cents. Then I saw your location. My ROI is very low but yours will be higher.
