just the wrong kind!
I started my little project close to 4 years ago. Although I really haven't been in the hospital for the entire last 3 years, I certainly feel like I have been. Needless to say, my project got as far as an MPPT charge controller I bought in 2017.
So, I'm new to...
My saying is, "I don't know what I'm doing, but it'll be badass when its done!".
I did these stairs this summer on a house we inherited. I've never done stairs. I'm more of a 2x4 and plywood type of guy!
Except for the risers, I built these stairs by hand. Lots of mistakes, but I made them work!
You know how it goes! Bought a bunch of stuff from Lowes thinking "this is going to be cool!"
It ain't the right stuff.
I'm trying to figure how I'm going to mockup where all my inside equipment is going. I'm a hack, but I'm an anal hack. I'm a pro at putting lipstick on a pig! ;)
So far I've ordered ISDT Q8.
I want to do all the wiring and testing before I install them in my self-conjured battery rack.
I can't do these types of projects the easy way!
I'm putting my wire connections and breakers inside a metal box. I'm using insulated terminal post, and I made a custom 1/2" plastic backing out of a cutting board. I know it's cheesy, but I kind of design as I go.
Is there a recommended, and/or safe distance between exposed...
That's a good question! I'm dumber than a 2x4!
I want to build a 24v system. I want to build it using the 'raw' cells. Sixteen will give me 2 sets 8@12v parallel would be 24v., 280ah?
Seeing I have zero knowledge about these BYD modules, I would assume a good top & bottom balance, and capacity test would be prudent?
From a class at the YouTube University DIY Solar Program, running both a separate cell balancer and BMS is useless(?)
I scored a couple of BYD battery modules for my play at home erector set.....on the cheap!!!
I do know how to search, but I'm still not quite done with the YouTube University DIY Solar program. Few more beers! ?
I've watched a lot of videos. Top balance. Bottom balance. This BMS is the best...
My apologies! Cell #1 is closest to front battery terminals. Voltages written are each cell pack, and I was able to get a reading from cells 1-8, starting at 3.2, for cell #1, then increasing the same amount for each cell, for a total of 26.4'ish volts.
I'm using 30v/5a power supply for the...
I worked with 600v, but anytime I was required to enter the electrical room, I only used a wooden broom handle. I drove a train! ?
Wife and I are older parents. Our daughters are only 19 & 17. Them, and all their friends, want to be adults, but they all come to me for the answers.
I'm...
Exactly what I have. Except the red wire is the last #8 pos. Very first wire is main ground.
Tomorrow I'll rip it all out and start over.
I can't even get the balance charger to recognize 8s configuration.
I sincerely thank everybody who has responded, and for that matter, everybody else on this forum. Lots of good information from everywhere!
Steve, I do read a lot of your post.
I'm physically disabled, and a retired locomotive engineer. I've been playing with this for about 4 years now. When...
Sadly, I fell off the wagon. I went and saw my surgeon yesterday. Too many years running poorly maintained locomotives took its toll on my musculoskeletal bits. Every year I pick a bone, and have it operated on. My last back surgery was a complete failure! I'm starting to look at my dilaudid...
