  • Post in thread: How to find bad panel in a multiple string system

My thought is the panel failing will show the least change, from a blocking of the sun action, on the entire string output. aka its already under producing and I am trying to flag it with the least effort on the hot roof.
  • Post in thread: Dead cell sample lines on JKBMS JK-B2A24S JK-BMS >> FIXED

Voltages all there. I took a backup jkbms unit I have and it works fine and displays correctly with the existing harnesses. So it's internal to the unit I pulled from service.
  • Post in thread: 2020 POLL: What BMS are you using in your system? (UPDATED)

JKBMS (active) Your Cell Configuration (48v 16s) Rated Discharge Current 280ah cells, bms is 2a Cost $157 Mostly Satisfied (can't get chinese maker to answer any email) https://www.jkbms.com Found github code to talk to bluetooth in device. I can remotely monitor each cell voltage and perform...
  • Post in thread: Adding Schneider XW Pro

Found recently that newer cell phones, even androids, will change their mac address when they make a different wifi connection. SUCH A PAIN IN THE ARSE. It like the newest, latest and greatest, are doing their best TO FORCE US ON THEIR CLOUD. I want no part of any cloud and want everything...
  • Post in thread: Solar house generator I started DIY back in 2000 - My path from Trace to Xantrex (on FLA battery) to XW Pro inverters on Tesla Model S batteries

My LiFEP04 cells are all inside 1/2" walls of cement board.
  • Post in thread: EVE-280 cells should these be clamped tight or spaced for expansion?

In my world I have simply placed the cells, four deep, and made them tight without really any compression that I am aware of. I've done this at 85% ish state of charge. My goal is just to prevent them from expanding if they try to. Hopefully this will achieve most of the benefit.

100% repaired. Thank you so much, kommando.
  • Post in thread: Modbus on the gateway vs modbus on the Combox

I just wish there was one source where I can learn all the necessary settings and parameters for the Combox to work properly with modbus. Slave vs Master, baud rate ? I see Gateway at 9600 and Combox at 19200
  • Post in thread: Forcing pv to run when generator is live

I can report that this is working very well. Inverter pv limits are set by the automation and allows Generator load to approximate half the load at all times. i.e. Load 8000w, two pv inverters set to limit at 2000w, so genset sees 4000w.
  • Post in thread: Home Insurance & Non UL Approved Equipment

Some of us here, like me, have probably expanded their originally permitted install. So we work in a grey area I presume. Additional panels, added with the same regard for code, should not easily trigger any insurance denial. Just be sure you have someone in the know involved with what you do...
  • Post in thread: Adding Schneider XW Pro

I would almost want microinverters to have a bunch of slightly different trip values in place.
  • Post in thread: Schneider Conext XW Pro 6848

"The soft start will be a great help" I got a soft start for a 3-ton hvac. Makes the difference. Hyper Sure Start Single Phase Soft Starter 230V (16-32 FLA) https://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/Hyper-Engineering-SS1B16-32SN-V230/p99614.html
  • Post in thread: Home Insurance & Non UL Approved Equipment

Much of the crap out of china is anything but UL listed. https://a.co/d/4rN10BW Top item in image is what they sold a year ago, bottom is current. What is missing ? Ad at that link claims UL listing, FRAUD from Amazon. Surprise !! Not.
  • Post in thread: Instant hot water heater with 48V DC

I think of batteries as storage. And diesel stored in a tank is stored energy too. So is hot water in a tank. To expect to 'instantly' put energy into water is a concept not compatible with inverters and conversion from battery energy to water, in real time. Thus I strongly recommend a large...
  • Post in thread: Dead cell sample lines on JKBMS JK-B2A24S JK-BMS >> FIXED

These bms units pull and push up to 2 amps into a supercapacitor. Active balancing. That's their purpose in life. So the mosfets or other switching devices, failed. It's just a shame with the other 22 circuits apparently good, and I only need 17, there isn't a workaround to use the 'still...
  • Post in thread: Off-grid: illegal in Florida?

With enough acerage you can still have AG with a house
  • Post in thread: Active balancer... worth it?

oh btw Has anyone found a way to search amazon without all the USELESS RESULTS it returns. Amazon is the pits.
  • Post in thread: Dead cell sample lines on JKBMS JK-B2A24S JK-BMS >> FIXED

This thread has been INVALUABLE in fixing my JKBMS unit. For anyone with a failed unit, THIS IS A MUST READ.
  • Post in thread: Schneider Conext XW Pro 6848

The soft start learns. When you first install it, it will take up to 30 starts to find map the best current and phasing parameters for your unit.
  • Post in thread: Inverter recommendations for 48V off-grid installation

Beware of Fronius. I had 5 inverter changes in their 10 year warranty. Now out of warranty. Displays have almost lost segments year after year
  • Post in thread: Adding Schneider XW Pro

Here in Florida, after the hurricane. No utility power. Cannot get more than 500 watts of charge from AC2 (gen) into my batteries. Any ideas ? Gen will automatically provide the house loads power plus 500 watts more for charging. But when my loads go down, I still cannot see more than the 500 w...
  • Post in thread: Off-grid: illegal in Florida?

The permits are the path the tax collectors use to get $$$ out of you. If you are able to bypass permits, the tax man loses out.
  • Post in thread: Dead cell sample lines on JKBMS JK-B2A24S JK-BMS >> FIXED

JKBMS model JK-B2A24S I am finding the seller 'useasy' on ebay WON'T HELP ME. I bought it from him six months ago, and it has the two broken inputs. He claims to be acting as AGENT for the manufacturer and won't allow me to diagnose dead cell inputs with manuf. Ebay itself blocks direct...

In Florida. Got 20 acres, 19 is AG, 1 for house
  • Post in thread: How to find bad panel in a multiple string system

A**holes at reddit won't allow my post.
  • Post in thread: Mounting panels to metal roof

I've done the Ospho in a spray bottle, brush, repeat, brush, and paint with Elastomeric from Rust-oleum. Comes with 10 year warranty from walmart. Too soon to tell if effective. Too bad salesman 11 years ago didn't warn me. If I painted that drip area at the outset, there shouldn't have been...
  • Post in thread: Docan Power Battery

The JKBMS supports up to 24 cells. Easy to config for 16 or 17. This installation runs like a charm. Squeezed another kilowatt out of the bank. 14 kw not 13. I monitor and log every cell every minute, for the last year. Nothing common about 3.2 volts for a cell voltage. That's all new...
  • Post in thread: Schneider Conext XW

Works. gateway will use two Pretty sure you can always put two mppt units on the same modbus. You just need to be sure they get assigned different IDs. Like 30 and 31. The gateway did my trick ... have main system on one xanbus and a standalone older 4548 on the second xambus. No conflicts.

The left most pin is B- B1 is next and must go on trace on the other side B2 is 3rd and I don't see any blown characteristics in the photo I will get a meter out tomorrow and see if I see something that way

Hmm -- overlooked the obvious ... I can put an inline fuse in the external red wire(s) on the cell(s) that I had to jumper in the black box. I'm thinking the glass tube type AGC 2.5 or 3 amp I can only imagine how many of these 'blown fuse' BMS units are piling up and getting tossed out !! Over...
