  • Post in thread: Crimp Quality…?

Seems like you're putting way too much thought into this than necessary. If you've got a good hydraulic crimper and have cut a few crimps apart and your technique is good, I wouldn't worry further. Hook it all up and stress test the system to the max amps it will transfer and even higher if you...
  • Post in thread: Are we all getting GRADE B cells??

I laughed at the idea that a Daly BMS can keep anything in balance...
  • Post in thread: Strange - Gradual reduction of max SOC over time???

Gee that's odd, I'd never run a system with charging based on calculated or measured SoC. That's just asking for trouble. If you have the option to make it stop charging based on voltage, I'd change to that.
  • Post in thread: Backup down under

I've been running my inverter through the same breaker you have, with 50mm2 cable for almost a year now. Quite often seeing 125amp loads continuously for prolonged periods when cooking/baking etc. No heating issues at all. Whole thing stays perfectly room temperature.

  • Post in thread: unused lf280k release fluid with an odor like acetone.. are they safe to use?

They are not grade A cells, but rather grade B cells. The terminology is confusing and should instead be: 1. Passed test Vehicle grade cells. 2. Factory reject Storage grade cells. All the resellers have cells that failed the Chinese standard tests for cells and are all therefore factory...
  • Post in thread: Fire, Ready Aim

My off-grid farm property currently has a single All-in-one inverter running. Its a cheap ebay knock-off of an MPPsolar, from about 8 years ago. The solar charge controller internally broke and so I had to install a seperate SCC. When I upgrade the system soon, I'm going with 2x 5kw All-in-one...
  • Post in thread: Help one cell charging discharging to fast

Youve got a DeltaV of 0.007V, which is tiny. I wouldn't worry about it. You'll likely diverge during high load testing anyhow due to the unmatched nature of these cells in general.
  • Post in thread: Wiring sub panel for small work shed.

5000w at 12v... is 416amps... Ridiculous amperage. Go for a 24 or 48v system if you want to power such large loads. Otherwise youll spend a fortune on wiring and fuses
  • Post in thread: Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

Wow what a learning curve! So after 3 days of fumbling through the cheat sheet, googling things and reading around the topic, I was able to successfully install Grafana, node exporter and prometheus. All successfully run on restart and I'm consistently getting system metrics in Grafana. I feel...
  • Post in thread: Fusing between four batteries in parallel without a bus bar

If running banks in parallel, I would advise fusing between each bank, appropriate to your wiring and load usage. For example I run 3x 280ah 48v Banks, wired in parallel. Each bank has its own individual 120A MCCB, rated for 10KA breaking capacity. Wiring between banks is 35mm2.
  • Post in thread: NOAH'S ARK: Index of LiFePO4 cell manufacturers

Those look exactly like my Higee 100Ah cells I bought from Shenzen Luyuan last year. They tested well and have been going great in a 24s bank for an electric vehicle

  • Post in thread: Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

All going well a few days later. Script just gets restarted whenever it crashes. I'm absolutely loving the data metrics. Its already helped me identify one issue and modify my battery design slightly. It fails reading between cells 14 to 16 usually. I've recorded a bunch of the fails and put it...
  • Post in thread: Near Real Time Sol-Ark 12K Monitoring

Solar assistant is probably the closest you are going to get as that communicates with the inverter via the RS485 port I believe. I think the modbus via the WiFi dongle can't be queried as often? It would be interesting to see the solarassistant python script and try modify it and get it working...

Ahh yes!! Thank you. That connector pic is exactly the picture I was looking for. Much appreciated. Looks like Black to GND and Red to RXD. Now to go and try that combination. Cheers
  • Post in thread: Which 60a SCC should I use? Rich Solar or Renogy, they both look similar

I've got 2x of the Renogy 60A's. Never used the richsolar one. Cant complain about the Renogy other than the minor irk of having to set voltage charging limits for my 48v system, as if my system was 12v (have to 4x everything). Renogy is easy enough to export data via a Raspberry pi and get it...
  • Post in thread: Australia - Group buy - DEYE 5kw hybrid (Aus approved)

When zero export to CT is on, it also follows the scheduler time and battery export limits. Its on the next page in setup. Ensure the export limit is set to something reasonable enough for your battery, wiring etc.
  • Post in thread: Need some guidance for TT payment on Alibaba

Which company is it? For my cells there, I used domestic wire transfer, which comes with a decent rate currency conversion from aud to usd. If you trust the company go with that. For new or untrustworthy companies, use paypal and be sure to use a credit card.
  • Post in thread: Carbon Lead vs Lithium

Sorry to hear that. It should recognise the word full stop and put in a full stop though.
  • Post in thread: Are we all getting GRADE B cells??

Thanks very useful. So scientific. Great evidence to back up your statement.

Has anyone bought from the "official" EVE store seller on Alibaba before and can share their experience?
  • Post in thread: Resurrected from the dead! Very impressed

The chargery has a switch on the underside that completely turns it off. The passive drain is quite significant given it runs an LCD screen and the DCC. I've long since moved onto the JK BMS and I don't think this issue would have happened with the JK. Regarding internal resistances, I dont...
  • Post in thread: Thoughts on a battery bank for the home ...

You need to find your final maximum power draw. By what you've said above, it sounds like you need at least an 8kw unit, or perhaps 2x 5kw units. The only inverter I can honestly recommend is the one I'm using, the Deye 5kw. I think its called the Sol-ark in the US. It is a very customisable...
  • Post in thread: Eve LF280K 6000cycle rated for solar at .5C 32cell build

I wouldn't worry about your cells being ruined at all. Especially if they only got down to 2.5v... These cells can handle abuse. One pack I made was discharged and then left for 6 months and found later with below 1v per cell. Mate brought them back to me, I charged, balanced and capacity tested...
  • Post in thread: Shenzhen Basen vs Shenzen Luyuan Lifepo4?

Have you had any luck dealing with the EVE alibaba store? I've been trying to get a quote off them for the past week and its terribly slow. I asked for a standard quote with all the usual information as one would do to Luyuan or Basen etc. Over the next day i get some "What is your email I will...
  • Post in thread: Looking to protect top of battery with plexiglass

Foam and acrylic/plexiglass are insulators so thats ok. Just make sure you dont have too many kilograms of weight resting on the cell terminals, they dont like that, as evidenced by fhorst's fire. I used 2mm neoprene rubber to cover the tops of my cells so nothing shorts the terminals. Watching...
  • Post in thread: Epever MPPT killed MPP Solar inverter and LFP pack

Had a similar thing happen to our old lead acid offgrid system. Auto-sensing SCC 12/24v (generic chinese brand) charged 12 batteries to full, and then switched into 24v mode and proceeded to boil off the lead acid batteries. Was a good prompt to upgrade to lithium cells and a renogy SCC.
  • Post in thread: Has anyone used that Chinese Capacity Tester Will used on his video?

Batteries are considered "used up" when <80% of capacity is remaining. That being said they would still be perfectly usable at those capacities. The most important factor is the internal resistance, as once that is very high, you will see a large voltage drop when drawing any significant amount...
  • Post in thread: Shenzhen Basen Technology Co., Ltd.

It looks like N is not being made anymore. Amy from Luyuan, who buys directly from EVE (or so is said), does not sell the N model anymore as she's run out and cant get anymore.
