If you really want the 2400 watt unit, just buy the hybrid one. It's in stock now. You state you want a 5k system but reference the 2400 watt unit. The 3kw growatt unit is solid as well (expected early may) https://watts247.com/product/hybrid-lv2424/

    Interesting....that may be the cause..
  • Post in thread: Differences in input between shunt and mppt controller

Ignore that last post I downloaded that image to blow it up and I see that the current which is presumably the amperage going to the battery is 16? Is that meant to indicate 16 amps going to the battery?
  • Post in thread: NEC rapid shutdown requirement seems to require optimizers or microinverters for strings over 80v?

So is that to say that every single DIY system that's been built over say the past 2 years is likely non-compliant? I wasn't aware of this requirement until I spoke with ALT-E. It's never mentioned on forums like these and requires additional equipment on every panel to meet code
  • Post in thread: Mixing Lion Energy UT 1300 and BigBattery 170Ah Battery

I've always been under the understanding that paralleling different ah sized batteries is really not an issue. If they're absurdly different and the smaller one is not charged then yes inrush current could be an issue - It would be a concern for the same sized battery if one were not charged as...
  • Post in thread: Differences in input between shunt and mppt controller

I'd also ask that you take the reading from the screen on the rover vs a phone app (assuming that's where that screenshot came from)
  • Post in thread: It's all Wills Fault!!

Let the inverter and panelwork handle neutral and the transfer switch -can be manual- will only have current from one source so inverter or inverter feed panel is line, likely. Cool so just switching the hots is likely OK? Place the generator/ gen feed panel and grid/grid panel on the accessory...
  • Post in thread: Bms in series

But would it be better than an 8S battery? The two BMS adds complexity with wiring and points of failure. Is there any advantage of keeping them as two 12 volts connected in series?
  • Post in thread: How to power wood fireplace when power is out

While this is a solar forum, to be honest I would just grab a small reliable gas generator. Simpler, much cheaper and more versatile. (Unless the op is looking to power the fan perpetually vs occasionally) ENKEEO 2300W Generator Portable Inverter, Fuel Power Inverter Generators SC2300i Gas...
  • Post in thread: MPP 24 Volt Hybrid Charging Behavior

I'm finding some settings that seem to be either in conflict or incorrect. To level set this is a hybrid unit and I'm using "solar power" software not Watchtower Setting 20- Battery stop discharging. In the software manual its called "battery re charged voltage" (I have this set to my low dc...
  • Post in thread: MPP Solar LV2424 code 04

Be careful with 10 CSO. I've seen that setting allow the batteries to drain below the low voltage cutoff. If it sees any PV at all it won't charge from the grid. What happened was as the sun was going down I was only getting 50 or so watts from each array. At the same time my batteries were...
  • Post in thread: Understanding MPP Solar charge settings for LifePO4 batteries

How are the two 48 volt packs wired to the inverter? Are they connected to a bus bar or directly wired? If not via a busbar then be sure to wire them diagonally across the packs. Positive from one pack and negative from the other. Given that one pack had both batteries at higher voltage I'm...
  • Post in thread: Can you connect an inverter to a single circuit in your house?

Manually switched. Power is not interrupted (if you're quick)
  • Post in thread: Lion Energy Safari UT Safety Mode is a PAIN

Given these are on clearance at Costo I'm considering getting some. Will - would these work well with my MPP all in one or will I be dealing with constantly resetting these?
  • Post in thread: MPP Solar LV2424 kicks butt!!!

For clarity, my panels and combiner box are grounded to earth via a dedicated ground rod. I'm also pulling that ground inside to ground my arcfault breakers. Those arcfault breakers also have a ground wire which connects to my inverters mounting screw. If I'm not mistaken the internals of the...
  • Post in thread: Is it possible? One combiner box feeding 2 growatt inverters

Yes you can do this. In fact there is a notch on the bus bar where you cut it in half. Cut more material off so that there is an actual space. I've found if you don't they may touch when you put the plastic cover on over the breakers. Bear in mind you now have two circuits, both requiring...
  • Post in thread: 4S or 8S BMS?

In the same position as you. I have 2 MPP Solar inverters running split phase with a total possible wattage of 4800 (not that I would push them like that. ) I have a single battery bank comprised of 2S/3P Lion energy batteries(285 ah). Basically limited to the BMS on the post of the battery...
  • Post in thread: Counter Intuitive Winter Solar Output

I've seen this as well and it's wild- Crystal clear blue skies to a 1300 watt array? 1180 PV watts input max. Add some light cloud cover or light haze and I've seen numbers in excess of the panel capacity as high as 14-1500 watts on a rare occasion. It depends on the type of clouds though -...
  • Post in thread: How To Properly Ground System

Steve_s. Fantastic overview! You're getting to root of my question. I will ground the panels To a combiner box with spd grounded to a ground rod. That should cover that. The mpp will be connected on the AC side (input) which will carry the house ground. My knowledge gap is the AC out from the...

Bump. Interested in this answer as well
  • Post in thread: Mpp solar inverter stops connecting pv panels

This is the solar charger no longer seeing enough voltage from the panels and dropping them (like at night). What is your pv setup end to end
  • Post in thread: How To Properly Ground System

My plan is to not be feeding my main panel at all, but I will be connected to AC for charging and low voltage cutover to ac power. I most likely will have a sub panel off the inverter for my loads. I'm still struggling to understand exactly how this should be grounded. I'd love to see a diagram.
  • Post in thread: Lion Energy UT1300 at Costco again

    Pretty sure they're online only
  • Post in thread: MPP 24 Volt Hybrid Charging Behavior

So far so good. It's off my dining room table and finally mounted (keep the wife happy!). Those settings came from Katie at Lion Energy. Settings 20 and 21 are my own choices. It's a bit ambiguous as to what the actual behavior is with those as it's not well documented.
  • Post in thread: PIP-1012LV-MK issue. Any body has one of this model?

Please clarify a couple of things. 1) Exactly what is running off the inverter when the lights flicker. 2). When you say output unstable are you saying that the voltage being output is not stable or the apparent watts consumed (load) is jumping all over. I'm Doing because I have a particular...
  • Post in thread: Mpp Solar 2.4k 24v

For a safety margin I'd wire it based on VOC (47.6) and add the a factor of 1.25 for cold weather(if thats a factor for you) in other words 3 strings (serial) running in parallel should keep you in a safe voltage range.
  • Post in thread: 2 battery banks with 1 inverter

This guy directly addressed the question. Charge each bank fully connect in parallel. Interested in people's thoughts on what he says
