Hi everyone I'm happy to have found this great resource. Disclaimer: I have no experience with solar or DC power supplies.
I'm going to build a version of Will's DIY 48v off grid power system with the help of son in-law who is a licensed electrician. I'm gathering up all the needed components...
I do understand the importance of isolating the powers sources. I also understand why folks use a critical load panel. I'm going to take the AC out of the inverter to a sub panel. However I want to be able to run some small loads off grid with solar and battery and have some limited back up...
I'd install the inverter and batteries in the bunkie. Leave the generator hooked up to the main panel and run the AC power out from the inverter to the main panel connected to a breaker with an interlock.
In the states 14/2 wire is rated for 15 amps 12/2 for 20 amps.
Just so I understand. You want to put up some panels, feed them in to an inverter and then feed the AC power from the inverter in to your 50 A generator connection?
Yes, you need some source of power for millions of EV's. I would say coal provides a large portion of energy used currently to charge up EV's.
When we get to 50% + efficiency on solar panels and affordable solid state batteries perhaps we can talk about adding millions of EV's to the grid as...
Moved to a new house in a new state less than 3 months ago. My online account with my electric company provides me with a hourly breakdown of electric usage. I've been watching it closely. After I swap out my electric dryer and hot water heater for propane it looks like I'll max out at 0.7 Kwh...
Sorry reading comprehension is a little off tonight.
I'm kind of doing the same thing with batteries.
I'm going to AC out of the inverter in to a sub panel and run a 40 A circuit from the sub panel to the main panel with an interlock.
My generator goes to a reliance transfer switch connected...

Thanks
I asked because I also have a gas furnace as my secondary and a combined 30k BTU's of mini split units as my primary. On 12/23 we hit -2F up here near the Poconos and both systems were blowing enough heat. I was surprised because I plan to add another 12K unit. I considered my systems...
I have a ramp and small front deck that receives direct sun from sun up until mid afternoon. I estimated that I can put between 6 and 8 400 watt+ panels on the a cantilevered pergola type structure.
My biggest issue is extending the railing posts 3' - 5' so I don't have to take apart the...
Yes, the Daikin warranty only covers parts and a licensed HVAC has to return the defective part to Daikin dealer for replacement. So it sounds like Senville would be easier to deal with for getting replacement parts.
I believe it allows you to transfer/switch the output from 2 input power sources.
In the picture it appears the switch is being used to select between solar power and grid power input to power a heat pump.
Is there a good reason for the long process time?
I was under the impression the EG4 line up was SS house brand? If it is, a non working newly purchased piece of equipment should be a simple exchange. worse case they make you pay for all shipping and wait to receive the defective unit before...
I have an EG4 split phase inverter and I want to run the AC out to a main lug 125A sub panel so I can power up some new branch circuits. But I'd also like to be able to power some critical loads in my main panel when the power goes out. I think it would be easier and cheaper than moving critical...
Germany’s Federal Network Agency, a watchdog that regulates electricity and gas in the country, said the plan would allow the power grid operators to remotely limit people’s use of heat pumps and electric car chargers next winter without the user’s consent...
I'm not electrician but if you want a 50A cord directly from your inverter to plug into the generator inlet that's all more the reason you want a sub panel. You need to be able to turn off the power to the cord when it's not plugged in. Or Maybe you plan to leave it plugged in all the time since...
