Anything coming from Biden's team seems ambiguous or questionable. His press secretary recently said that the president had added "Ten thousand million jobs." ?? Ten thousand million translated equals 10 Billion. There are 7.9 billion people in the world as of 9/2022, she needs to go back to school.
YES, Inverters R Us has the new 24V MP-II 2x120v model in stock and is shipping them immediately.

This morning, I heard from VE's Sales Manager Jan K that the 24V version of the Multi[plus-II 2x120V Inverter/Charger will be released in the US "later this year." Jan advises checking with your local or retail distributor and getting on a Notify List. (y)
Yes, a controller with MPPT would be an important upgrade. MPPT is more efficient. The amp rating refers to the amps from the SCC to battery for charging. For a smaller system a 30 to 40 upgrade is good.
Some recommendations:
10awg wiring from the panels to the controller
6awg wiring from SCC...
Unusual and requires a awg upgrade. The PVs’ VOC*T°coef is the critical factor. MPPT’s amp rating is primarily the amps used in charging the battery bank and also for determining the watt total of one’s array.
It can be done. I’ve seen direct pv’s to well’s pump without any batteries or solar charge controller. It‘s a community well to a pressurized reservoir tank.
I just order the just released 24-volt Victron MultiPlus-II 2x120 from Inverters R Us. They have several in stock and are shipping immediately.

Exactly. When an SCC fails, the charge (volts) from the PV is not controlled or limited, and no battery can survive this overcharge. The BMS can handle the “normal” charging from a working SCC, an AC to DC charger or a DC to DC charger, and it will protect the battery in this setting.
Don’t...
Google “will a vehicle battery drain an rv battery”
I do see that the Renogy unit has an isolator, so it won’t allow Rv to mv reverse charging. Cheapest way would be a small solar charger.
Correct as your SCC lower the voltage to meet your battery bank’s required charging levels. The SCC also sends out a current that will be at or below the SCC’s amp rating.
I have a Victron 150/60 Smart Solar Charge Controller. It doesn’t have a display, but it is a smart Bluetooth device that...
First, ask for her budget. The generator can be a back up if her upgrade includes a good inverter/charger. Watch videos on All About RVs, Explorist Life and DIY Solar. Research these forums. Start planning. Whether you go with a 48 or 24 volt system, there are step down DC to 12v DC converters...
Victron is bringing its 24-volt Multiplus-II x2 to America later this year (currently Europe first). IMO I’d go with 24-volt batteries in parallel. 24-12v converters vary in features and price (research reviews). You won’t need to change your 12v wiring to 24v. The 12v out line runs to the DC...
I ordered the new 24-volt Victron MultiPlus II 2x120v this week from Inverters R Us with Free Shipping and free programming! It arrived today. Great tech support and excellent packaging.
Mr S, Given the rash of liability lawsuits, your practice of removing electrical improvements is an excellent idea. Plus, I agree that you should generally not expect to get back what you have added to an RV or vehicle. A house is another story.
They are not that different except for the wire length to the Lynx distributor. #2 should be more efficient as #4's wires to the Lynx are different lengths (resistance).
It is better for each cable to have its own lug. One multistrand cable is round, but two cables would be in an oval shape and would have less contact in one lug (safety issue. )In some Victron inverters, there are two negative posts and two positive posts for incoming DC voltage. One lug instead...
The root of the problem is NOT “the citizens of USA.” There is too broad of $$ spectrum of inhabitants of the USA. A significant % of buyers look for quality and a great % look for “best buys.” Reviews often include “Best Buy“ recommendations. The root of the problem is the federal government...
Good changes and recommendations from some of the best members of DIY Solar. PS SOK batteries are excellent - I have had zero issues with my 12v and also with my 24v systems.
FilterGuy,
Excellent overview of Victron’s DC2DC challenges. I tried a few approaches also (“in practice”) with results that weren’t static/consistent. I decided to use a resettable 60amp breaker near the battery and manually switch it off. I’m thinking about putting the breaker in the cab of my...
Some newer residential panels have systems that offset shade (not like older ones in series that shade impacted). 2S2P is better in shady areas most of the time. The 2S2P has a 74v VOC. The 4S layout puts out 148volts at VOC and that requires a large Solar Charge Controller 250/60 or 250/70. A...
