    EG4 6000XP/18Kpv Custom RS485 Dongle Connector

yes according to section 8.2 above of the manual and the 6000xp modbus manual it has modbus over rs485... they just did a poor job in the manual of explaining where the physical interface is. And it would have been much better to provide direct terminal blocks like the 18kpv vs expecting us to...

    EG4 6000XP/18Kpv Custom RS485 Dongle Connector

Push in terminals on the 6000xp are these connections:

    EG4 6000XP/18Kpv Custom RS485 Dongle Connector

This post by @marionw seems to suggest the rs485 pins to interrogate the inverter itself are in fact in the battery comms jack. I guess I'll give that a try unless anyone else knows for sure? And does the modbus address have to be set by modbus command? I found a post where it is accessible...

    EG4 6000XP/18Kpv Custom RS485 Dongle Connector

Can somebody point me to the rs485 connector on the 6000xp? it doesn't look like the board diagram above which must be the 18kpv. The board has this green on white lettering referencing P1 and P2 but which of the RJ45 plugs is it talking about? Surely not BatCom or you couldn't also talk to...

Suggestions for whole house off-grid system?

He's got qty (4) of the bundle, each of the bundle includes qty (2) of the 14.3KWH batteries.

Suggestions for whole house off-grid system?

In the right circumstances I think we're getting close to being able to replicate the grid with less cost than the grid. Grid cost me $80K. $80K in solar and storage would buy something that doesn't look like camping. Sure the overall house has to be efficient and you have to be more...

Suggestions for whole house off-grid system?

Same here, I'm building a house where the default/historic option is to pull a new power line (needs to run about ~1mile) at a cost of about $80K. $80K pays for a lot of solar and batteries. But when you are building new and home values are $800K+ the $50K for solar+battery plus the rest of...

    Eg4 6000xp off grid

Thanks @gotbeans . Do you know who OEMs the EG4-3000? It doesn't look like their older Voltronic units (like the 6000EX) or like the newer LuxPower ones (like the 6000XP and 18K). I just wonder if the 3000's behaviors would match the 6000XP just because I think they aren't made by the same...

    Eg4 6000xp off grid

Does anybody know if the 6000XP works as a solar charger with the inverter off? And if so what are the parasitic losses in that condition? I can't find anything in the manual on this. Right now I run a 6000EX and both that and the similar MPP-LVX6048 will turn on and charge batteries even if...

EG4-6000xp (or other) Solar charge controller recover from battery shutdown

good thought @Samsonite801 thanks! It would be nice if I went with a DC disconnect relay to not also have to add new controls. Unfortunately though the way I read that table if the unit is powered off with no output (the inverter is off) then the dry contact doesn't switch state based on...

EG4-6000xp (or other) Solar charge controller recover from battery shutdown

Awesome! So that setting #17 in the manual does what I'm after? The description of what "Battery Wakeup" does wasn't clear but if it supplies 48v to wake up the battery that makes sense! Thanks

EG4-6000xp (or other) Solar charge controller recover from battery shutdown

The inverter is always left off when nobody is on site so the low voltage cutoff in it doesn't apply. The battery use is DC load.

EG4-6000xp (or other) Solar charge controller recover from battery shutdown

I have a remote off-grid system that from time to time has enough power drain and snow on the panels to cause the LFP batteries to shutdown due low voltage. When the snow melts and the sun comes back there is no good reason that the solar charge controller (EG4-6000ex right now) couldn't supply...

    Never mind.

I don't know how to resolve the "with some batteries" and then I don't want batteries. But yes most of the low frequency all-in-one inverters will run without batteries if there is enough sun input for the load. I've reproduced this situation for example - works fine. Welding is a very...

    IRL Meet up? Colorado

I couldn't find any posts related to trying to get forum members together in person. Grab a beer, trade notes. If I missed a section on this point me in the right direction, thanks! Personally would be up for connecting with any folks in the central or northern front range Colorado area: any...
