    Rethinking my battery box

Ok I can't seem to find a good answer on this. How thick should a compression plate be? Is the 16 gauge steel of the box good enough? I was going to press the cells up against the end of the box (with an insulating layer of course). I am not looking to squeeze the crap out of these cells, juat...

Dielectric grease on cable lugs? Lets test!

It comes from a misunderstanding of what "dielectric" means. Stole this from online. "A dielectric material is a poor conductor of electricity but an efficient supporter of electrostatic fields. It can store electrical charges, have a high specific resistance and a negative temperature...

    Heat Pump water Heaters

My parents had an AO smith. it worked fine for a very long time until it finally sprung a leak. Never had an element failure. My old house had a 4-5 year old Whirlpool that leaked. They wouldn't warranty it under the 6 years warranty because I wasn't the original purchaser. Rheem warranties...

    Heat Pump water Heaters

I guess I totally do not understand why the heck I'd ever want to access my water heater from anywhere. Only place I want to access it is either the hot water from the shower head, or get to the physical tank to replace it whenever it needs replaced. I've used/installed standard old Rheem...

EG4 Mini-split kinked one of the copper line sets

Problem is not just vacuum but moisture may have been introduced (humidity), and may impact the drier or other components.

Running 240V water heater on 120V?

I'd use a double if for no other reason than to make my life easier.

Running 240V water heater on 120V?

Would it work? Yeah. Code compliant? Not really. Water heater through what effectively looks like a light switch would at least raise eyebrows. Would I do it? Probably lol. I used 3 way switches as my method of switching 120V circuits from grid to generator.

Are microinverters with battery supply a thing?

Short answer - they can't. If you're not looking for backup power, but to offset your power usage - especially if you have favorable net metering agreements with your PoCo (I have 1:1) - they are super easy to implement because they take care of a lot of shading issues, rapid shutdown issues...

    Rethinking my battery box

Yes there's plenty of room for that. I would just have to figure out how to attach it. I don't expect to move these boxes much, but reality is they will need moved if we move to another property sometime, so I'm planning ahead for that a bit. Which, on that note, I'm thinking of buying 4 of...

    Rethinking my battery box

Yep I just have smaller cells so they don't fit as snug. I also do not want them on their sides (I know they say it is OK I just don't like it). I'm thinking I can simply get some 16 gauge sheet metal at the store, cut it to length (maybe an ugly edge but w/e), and use some L or C channel to...

    Luyuan battery case

She responded to chat already. Basically just under $550 for two boxes shipped with modifications to support the EVE 230Ah cells and mounting my JBD contactor BMSes without screens. I'm debating whether to do that or keep going with my attempt at the other boxes. Wife is unsure on $

    House burned down

Our water tank and furnace are plumbed with that stuff. I don't like it, I don't like how it is run either. Actually I think our incoming line might even be that stuff...
