This is what I found. It states that if the Equipment ”meets” the Energy Star than its usually good.
  • Post in thread: The End of the World finally happened! AC/DC Mini Split?

I think most missed the point of this thread. My Goal isn't to save money. Its for emergency backup. If I was out of power for 21 days. I'd be living high on the hog with AC, TV, Iphone charging and Lights. Saving money is one thing - having All the things you need to keep you from going...

Yep. I hope I didnt insult anyone with that post. I wish I could be a Solar Extremist. Its just a matter of space and money. I agree its hard to dedicate the panels after I thought about it. But If i can pay for them quick with money saved. Then I can go and upgrade my Battery system...

    I love this thing!

That sounds a bit personal. lol

I’m also glad I didn’t have time to roof mount these panels. While everyone else was snow and ice caked for weeks at a time in my neighborhood I was able to easily clean these panels off to get power. gonna make a permanent ground mount to keep these things running year round.
  • Post in thread: Eg4 mini split and charging batteries

So here is my take on it… If your looking at an off Grid location you’d certainly have to go battery bank. But for the other 80% of people not choppin wood and burning propane, living in the suburbs the hybrid mini is a great alternative to the barrage of salesmen knocking on my door wanting...
  • Post in thread: Where are the mini splits????

Don't want to beat a dead horse but for the extra money you pay for the per-charged lines may not be worth the little extra work. If you are mechanically inclined enough to cut a hole thru your house, run wiring. wire up Units, shuts offs and Breaker boxes... Your more than capable of doing the...
  • Post in thread: Solar powered mini split vs just using inverter and batteries with old mini split.

Also, there is a 30% Government Rebate for Heat Pump/Mini-Splits this year on your Taxes. You can combine the cost of the Panels/Wiring, etc... into the Mini-Split becaise they are dedicated to it. Put out say 3k get $900 back. With that new number in 4 years it will be paid off in savings...
  • Post in thread: Victron 100/20 Under Performing in a 6S Battery (24V)

Your not running a 24v system. You have a 6 cell battery pack. That’s not done. Sorry, but that’s the end of the story
  • Post in thread: Victron 100/20 Under Performing in a 6S Battery (24V)

No. It says right in the Victron manual that it will only do 290 watts for a 12v system. he‘s trying to make it calibrate to a 24v system but has an oddball 6 cell battery that’s not enough volts to get it to work that way. I think
  • Post in thread: Solar powered mini split vs just using inverter and batteries with old mini split.

What I can say is my August bill is $295 just for electric Use and Delivery charges - typical for summer months. The rest of the time its only like $50 bucks, maybe a little spike for Christmas lights... so AC is the number one draw in my home. So dedicating Panels to the number one power...
  • Post in thread: Victron 100/20 Under Performing in a 6S Battery (24V)

I experienced the same issue with this Victron. Only able to get 290w out of it. Why in the world is it called a 100/20. That’s just bullshit. At 100v and 20a that would suggest you could put upto 2000 watts on this charger. 290 watts is the limit on this overpriced basement level charger
  • Post in thread: The Great Big Lithium Lie

I wasn’t implying that anyone on here was purposely redirecting. I know we are all just trying to learn. I hope no one took that the wrong way.
  • Post in thread: EG4 mini split

You’d have to read the fine print. The rebate may include high efficiency heat pumps. I’ll take a look again before I ship it
  • Post in thread: Where are the mini splits????

I picked up this BACOENG Complete AC Repair Tool Kit for Mini Split/HVAC/AUTO with Tool Bag - Includes 3.6CFM Vacuum Pump, 800PSI Manifold Gauge Kit for $109 bucks with coupon off of Amazon. Will says they sell them at Harbor Freight but the ones around me only have car refrigerate types...
  • Post in thread: EG4 12K Hybrid mini split solar question

Thanks, I pushed the Button last night... Glad the post had me procrastinating. I found: 10 x Hyundai 300W Half-Cell Monofacial Solar Panel ( Silver ) | HiA-S300HG $1,095.00 On "Signature Solar" - Free shipping too. Even tho I had to buy 10, I would have paid that for 5 - 200watts on...
  • Post in thread: EG4 mini split system design question

That’s the ticket. Just plug some Panels in. The EG4s like to see above 90volts out of a series string. Usually this means around 1200w of Solar panels To get the most out of it. Then just plug the AC part of the mini split into your main system to make up the difference for clouds and...
  • Post in thread: The Great Big Lithium Lie

I definitely agree. Your never going to be a accurate a reading in the 2 second it takes to calculate. But I do believe it is pall park useful. I had some known bad batterys and showed they were bad. If my 10 year old Agms were that bad I believe it would tell me. I used them very...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 mini split and charging batteries

My advice would be to buy the Eg4 AC/DC Hybrid Mini-Split. its actually $200 bucks cheaper than the Grid power one. supply and demand I guess. $1200 bucks for a 12000BTU or 1 Ton Unit. You can just plug some cheap Panels right into it and you’re done. if your talking about running it thru a...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 mini split and charging batteries

that extra $400 bucks is nothing compared to spending $4000 dollars on a extra ~3kwH of battery I love my EG4 Mini Split and have saved $200 bucks already in gas for the 4 months its been installed. It will be payed off and making money in a year. Not ten years like a battery system.
  • Post in thread: Eg4 mini split and charging batteries

Sure you can do that. But if you are just starting out from nothing and want to get into Solar. A mini-split and a few panels is all you need to get started on saving money on HVAC. I just don't understand why you guys don't want to help these people jump in without beating your chest of how...

Oh never mind. Not enough coffee today. Stupid me
  • Post in thread: EG4 mini split

Last year when I was looking in December Signature Solar used to have a link to the government rebate program. and implied that the mini splits were included. I would hope that would be the case as a 22 Seer qualifies over the 15 Seer threshold. When the new form is released only way to know...
  • Post in thread: Solar powered mini split vs just using inverter and batteries with old mini split.

I love this thing. Just finally used the AC part today. Have been using the heat. Just so dam cool to get from the sun I figured I’ll use 3 - 305watt panels for the mini split and 2 for the pecton. Plug the ac part to the Pecron and be set. No need to draw from my other conventional...
  • Post in thread: TIGO DC Optimizers with EG4 Hybrid Mini-Split

oh wow! you gotta pay for it. Thats lame
  • Post in thread: The End of the World finally happened! AC/DC Mini Split?

Isn’t that the case with any Solar Setup. Depending on the size your always going to have days you produce more power than you can use or don’t have enough. With the Government 30% tax rebate for mini splits it’s a cheap setup that can pay for itself in 3 to 4 years. Then who cares. It’s...
  • Post in thread: Victron 100/20 Under Performing in a 6S Battery (24V)

I still don’t like the way they spin the 100v. It’s very misleading for anything less than a 48v system Should be called a 290x4/20 Then this discussion would have never happened. The max output should be stated without having to dig thru the manual for people who are inexperienced...
  • Post in thread: Runnin hot 14.6ish

You should be barred from speaking on here. you have absolutely no clue and could care less if there are fires and deaths because you “recommend” to hook up something the manufacturer states never to do, just so you yourself are not proven wrong. thats just bizarre Dude. Grow up.
