So long as that is communicated with transparency before purchase, I see nothing wrong with it. Saving money and knowing it's going to be a development process, great for many people. However when something is marketed as the next great thing and is ready to solve all of your problems, you set...
Very cool.
Update:
Panels arrived and I got the first (5) up today. Don’t pay any attention to the hideous wiring, that’ll get cleaned up tomorrow morning, I didn’t want to waste any undue time without knowing how they performed. So far, so good. Hazy day, but I think tomorrow it should be...
Couldn’t agree more. You want to rock a cheap inverter, have at it lol. Complain on a forum using your Chinese made iPhone or computer while you’re at it. Sheesh.
Just to clarify, Battle Born batteries are 100% factually assembled in the US. There is absolutely no question about it. Not a...
Sounds just like every friend that asks me to help with solar on their RV. I ask what they want to power and get answers like, “really just the basics, lights, TV here and there, coffee maker in the morning, toaster would be nice, microwave and the wife would love to blow dry her hair”.
I’m...
I think I speak for everyone when I say this: support is implied when the company puts their name on it and sells it to you.
Another point, at no point did anyone suggest I speak to anyone at Luxpower. Gilbert seemingly did his part out of his own free will.
Much appreciated!
I considered doing all EMT but I already had plenty of 2” schedule 80 PVC laying around from the main panel upgrade. I figure if it’s good enough to protect my home outside, it’s plenty safe up high inside. Honestly it’s very thick pipe.
I did however do the PV wires in 3/4...
I appreciate the response and sincerely hope to see the product flourish. I wanted it to work so badly, but I hope you can see the frustration I was having.
I hope this is a totally isolated incident and over time I look like the weird guy who didn't stick around for something great. I simply...
I don’t disagree with that, and think talking to Luxpower may indeed be a valid solution.
But again, this was never discussed, nor even hinted at. My (probably incorrect) assumption was that SS was providing the support, the product had been modified to their liking, whether that be the larger...
I understand how and why you’re questioning these things. You’re like me, inquisitive and wanting to find out why, not just that it happened. So trust me, I’m “on the same team” if you will.
I can do the digging, I’m happy to make it all scientific. I don’t know their firmware situation more...
I really do mean it though, I'm not being passive aggressive at all. I think the solar space is vast and needs companies like Signature Solar. Without them you've essentially got top notch stuff like Victron and let's say Sol-Ark, then you have "shit you find on eBay/amazon". The middle...
I don’t disagree with that. One thing I would add that I believe is critical and ties it all together is this:
A company like ecoflow clearly has strong financial backing and evidently has a solid understanding of where investing their money benefits them most. I have owned businesses that...
Again I know the installer, a lack of experience tied with “likely heavily reduced pricing” for that project to be used in marketing, equals what you see.
BB simply doesn’t offer anything in 48v, I’ve spoken to them many times face to face about entering that market, it doesn’t seem to be a...
Right, I shared nothing more than our conversation as it directly related to this product and the support I received. You're acting like I shared the location of his child.
If I was able to receive help over the phone, I wouldn't have had those messages. Unfortunately the only time I received...
I’m glad to see the information everyone is posting, I just don’t have any new information to add as the inverter was picked up and is on its way back to Signature Solar. I assume I’ll see a refund in the coming week or so, or maybe they’ll send me a pair of their sweet new batteries instead...
Definitely don't do the un-permitted route. The paperwork and permitting portion was an absolute nightmare for me, it was only at the end when I was pulling my hair out I learned about a company called Vector Engineering. I was struggling with the inspector wanting stamped engineering plans for...
Thanks sir! The sheer number of runs to the store is insanity. Always missing a bushing or fitting of some sort I seemingly can’t ever have enough of.
Also trying to do things right vs cutting corners always takes 3x the time.
Controller is listed as a max of 350 amps, the biggest BMS I could find was the JK BMS that is rated for 200a constant and spike to 350a which I think will suit us just fine. Hell, just dropping the extra 400 pounds will help with the amp draw in some regards, as will the extra voltage.
I actually have those, however they are quite efficient and they share circuits with loads I really want to have on the inverter.
I did however consider putting the server closet in the main panel to do exactly that.
At the end of the day, I found myself thinking, “why am I looking for ways to...
Apparently you didn’t read a single word I wrote. I never once claimed to be a dealer for Sol-Ark.
I am a dealer for Battle Born Batteries, whom carries Sol-Ark products.
If you’re trying to tell me I was somehow trying to get a discount by responding to YOU messaging ME with better pricing...
In their discussion of telling you it backfeeds the same as a Sol-Ark, did they happen to mention why Ty called Marcus when he saw mine backfeeding, or why Marcus would apologize and offer to pay any fines?
Or why Ty would say they found there is a problem in the firmware?
Or why @Quattrohead...
Hell if I know what I’d use it for, I’m an idiot and buy stuff I don’t need.
I guess it could be the beginning of a system at our vacation house.
Stop asking questions that save me money!
