I have the EMP Shield I bought for the batteries. The instructions show hooking the green to ground but it says to hook the red to positive busbar and the black to the negative busbar (instructions show it going to battery terminal but since this is in the EG4 6 battery rack, it will go on the busbar) What do I do with ground? Cap it? I think it has to have a ground to deal with the lightning part (which I why I purchased since we live in FL) I thought batteries did not need to be grounded...

The battery rack should be grounded along with the rest of the system. I assume the device is at the battery rack so ground it at the samp point the rack is grounded.

Thanks for the answer. I am going to read your "Grounding made Simpler" resource.

@FilterGuy I have a quick question: If my system goes left to right (Main panel>transfer switch>XWPro>batteries, can I ground the battery rack to the inverter ground? The main ground is in the panel, but everything is grounded from there to each other. I have read others saying go to the source, but surely if each thing is connected to a grounding bar in order, then why couldn't a person just ground to the last/nearest device? What are your thoughts?
