Anyone buying these 305ah envision cells?

@Surferdudemi How do yo like that EEL enclosure and which box did you get?, I was looking at that. Did you get it with a BMS? If so which one?
Thanks

I like the box. I emailed with Howard to understand what they had and their pricing. My CATL 271 cells were a little tight, but I got them to fit without damaging them. I used the included fiberglass separators. They also included foam separators, but didn't use those. There were some slight alignment problems with the screws on the outside, but if you know to leave the screws loose until you've got them all started, it works out.

I've only used the USB/485 interface with a laptop. The names of the parameters are a little strange because of bad translations, but you can control most of the operating parameters of the BMS (Seplos, I think). It was a little tricky to get the capacity and SoC to match the Skybox. It boils down to the warning parameters you set in the two devices. Outback is not one fo the protocols supported by the BMS, so unfortunately that did not work out.

Overall, at about $600, I think it's a good deal. I thought about building something, but as I want to use this in the house, I thought a metal one with all the safeguards was a better choice. I've got another box on the way to be used with a couple of SMA inverters (Sunny Island 6048-US).

Just received the 20 cells via FedEx. So shipping was fast. Less good is that the swelling of the cells is 3-5mm. I.e., none less than about 3mm and none more than about 5mm. I'm going to try loading them into my EEL enclosure tomorrow to see if they still fit, but have my doubts. If they fit, I can run some tests over the next few days to see how they perform. WIll need to top-balance them. Didn't check voltages yet.

To set expectations, I limit the charge rate to <0.2C. Typically, I've been charging my 271 CATL cells at 35-40A, for example.
Update on the cells. Try as I might, the B grade cells would not fit in my EEL case because of the swelling. I plan to keep 4 of them to supplement the capacity of a Yeti 1250. To their credit, 18650batterystore agreed to the return of the others because I specifically asked for cells that had no swelling before I placed the order. So in that respect I'm pretty happy about at least trying this out and with their response. Sounds like they are going to drop the B grade cells, so if you want those, you should get them before they run out. Just plan to deal with slightly swollen cells. I did not test their performance because they didn't fit in my enclosure. A voltage check showed consistent voltage amongst the 4 cells I sampled: 3.29V.

Are you in the southwest by chance? I’ll buy em if you haven’t returned them and are reasonably close to me

I’m also in UK and also ordered these cells from Fogstar at £99 each. Have done a capacity test at 306.17Ah. I didn’t bother top balancing. Measured internal resistance at 0.40 milliohms which is out of spec and explains why they are grade B. This just means voltage drop at very high currents. I drew 60A-120A with no problems though, even right down the bottom of the test.
Unless they turn out to have some longevity issue (which any cell can have) I would say they are excellent value.
Was it at least a consistent 40mΩ for all the cells plus or minus a couple milliohms or are we seeing a deviation of like 6-10 milliohms?
40 is pretty high for a 280Ah cell....like triple a Grade A and double what I would want to see in a Grade B

I think the Eve spec is <25 milliohm. It did vary, I just picked the worst one

I'm glad I found this thread. I was thinking of building 1-2 EEL enclosures and looking for cells. Had debated on 1 "good" pack of LF280K cells and 1 "cheap" pack with the Envision cells. I figured if the Envision's degraded quicker or weren't quite up to snuff, they'd probably age similarly to 280's. Sounds like even if you ask for non-swollen cells, they can't/won't find them and make the enclosure work.

@Surferdudemi I'm guessing you tried with thinner/no dividers between the cells and it still didn't fit?

going to be blunt.. ordering from the accepted forum vendors is not any better than ordering from alibabba. i approached "Ami" with some questions about the safety of their shipping,. IE how she or her company would pack the cells in regards to the new welded on posts. she immediately refused to answer any messages from the point on both this forum and alibabba.

turns out you ask them some serious questions... they are all the same. the question was: can you assure or guarantee no damage to the terminals with these new welded on terminals (large terminals with two threaded holes). there has been several post about members ordering and receiving cells with the terminals bent due to the packing of the product prior to shipping. my question was i wanted the predrilled with stainless helicoil inserted into the posts similar to all of the cells I had ordered before. (chances of damage zero). if these were not available what guarantees were they offering for safety in shipping?

crickets... no desire to answer as somebody was asking hard questions...and was willing to hold them to their word. this was on a possible 10K order. so obviously, to me at least, @Amy Wan can be trusted no further than any of the rest of the sellers on Alibabba.

Any vendors want to step up and sell 5~10K worth of product? all i require is an answer as to how you plan on protecting the cells that you are shipping if they have the large terminals, that tend to bend when packed improperly.

sad thing is i bought 70 cells unknown to start with, the cells were not new (contrary to the sellers claims) but they were decent enough for my purposes and I knew they were used form the start even though he would no admit this. they are still doing their job several years later.

I would like to build a serious pack with 304's.. I am not interested in the 280's... too may horror stories on them. i would also entertain Winston cells if you can offer new nylon cased cells (not sure of the production runs for Winston but their cells are the gold standard.

i firmly believe 99% of the issues we have are due to makers trying to cram more power into the same footprint with no regard. the nylon cased cells do not seem to have any of the issues the aluminum cased ones do.

@Daddy Tanuki I am looking for a US Source for you for 304's

This the place in Atlanta, GA I was looking for EVE LF304 Grade A Cells - 3.2V LiFePO4 304Ah Battery
Price: $149.00

Main webpage: https://www.18650batterystore.com/

List of LiFePO4 Prismatic Cells: https://www.18650batterystore.com/collections/lifepo4-prismatic-cells

I messaged the online messanger To see if they could handle a order of 70-100 cell order but no reply yet.

Hope this helps you, I wanted a US location and not wait 3-4 monthe to get some from China

The price from US location means a good bit more money. I was basically in the same situation as you last month and ended up ordering from overseas, but with a US company and paid with a credit card. This way if anything goes wrong I can get my money back. 18650 would have been $789 more vs having it shipped to me from sfk.

But if you can't wait 18650 has the best prices for in stock cells in the USA.

I have 48 cells on order and my total was $7475.00 which comes to $155.47/cell delivered to my work shop. I went with there large terminal seemed like a good setup vs the dual pole or the common small round style.

Seems like SFK has a bit of controversy here so I paid with my Amex card, if anything is not perfect I'm just going to file a dispute. Amex does not play games.

I'll post pictures when I get them, they told me it is shipping on Friday and should arrive in about 35 days.

@EastFalcon What is the link to the place your ordered from ? please

This is shit... I so over paid for my sfk cells almost $180.00/cell for the 304... Now its $150.00/cell delivered with the cash coupon. I'm no where near with my build either just ordered some sepolos cases and those aren't going to be here for at least 2 months I could have just waited?

appreciate that, but living in Japan I would need to see if they would drop ship directly here vice shipping to the US and then shipping them from the US to Japan.

Hey I bought a used vehicle in 2021. Can't be much worse than that...

Sounds like they are going to drop the B grade cells, so if you want those, you should get them before they run out.

My advice to 18650 is to do just that, I don't think anything good is going to come out with grade B, they actually had a perfect rep until some guy had leaky cells: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/a...lls-from-18650batterystore-big-mistake.63726/ There also have been some tests cells do not meet capacity and are well short e.g. some 304 tested to like 270 even though 18650 is claiming they meet capacity.

All this does is confirm that no matter who you are buyer or dealer, you mess with grade B then you eventually will get stuck with junk.

Looks like a hefty sale on 305ah grade B cells on 18650…$99/cell!

Would it be an absolutely horrible idea to put 16 in my cart when I’ve only gone from “I’ll just buy a rack of EG4” to reading the forum and “hey, building one doesn’t look too bad and could save 30-40%” in like a 2 week span? ?

I’m nowhere near ready to have a permanent home for these or to get my home system build into gear, but the price seems phenomenal. Maybe I can just run them on my father in laws grid tie next door for now idk. Just seems like a potential 15kwh bank for like $2500 all in

I am wondering about those 305ah grade B cells on 18650 too; ... thinking 1 or 2 extras might be good for a gamble on a 48v battery bankthat will be seldomly used on house backup system (w the EG4 3000), ... for when the grid goes down at my girlfriends house. Nice to read the comments in this thread. My current older 280 Ah EVE x 24 cells ... in my three rows of 24v Battery Banks are all connected with bus bars slightly longer than the stock ones (these: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256....0.0.13f338dabLdeBA&mp=1&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa ) ... so all my cells have space between their sides/ stacked on a metal rack I made for em (insulated for battery to metal contact). I could deal with some waviness ... as I have just not bought into that compression rap yet for stationary batteries. ... Update: One of my 280Ah EVE cells from Docan (bought in increaments/ not as set of 8) hits low voltage early; so I just ordered one of these 305Ah ... B Grade Cells to update my one below par EVE 280 Ah cell, to see if I can make that work (read one poster who did the same, and it worked), ... and just to see how that cell tests out before a possible full 48v battery bank order. Will see :+)
