What's the best Initial charge up procedure for my batteries?

Hi all, I'm about to switch on my system for the first time, and charge my two sunsynk L5.1 lifpo4 batteries. The manufacturer recommends a 50amp normal charge per battery and a dod of 90%. For the initial charge up, what do you recommend, a full charge from mains @50amp, and from then on just...

Two batteries in parallel, Two 80amp breakers, 100watt battery charge

Thanks guys, I'm starting to question things that I have done or used to know, after being away from thinking about solar for a while. Two bouts of covid, an accident to both legs, family crisis etc. It's been a bit of a year. It amazes me how quickly the brain gets foggy.

Two batteries in parallel, Two 80amp breakers, 100watt battery charge

I'm just panicking a bit here, but does this seem right, charging two batteries paralleled at 100amps and using an 80 amp breaker per battery. Part of my brain says 50amps will go to each battery, another part of my brain says both breakers will trip out at start of charge.

UK Copper Bus bars, where to buy?

Thank you for the links. I did look on 12 volt planet but couldn't see much at all, that page was hiding from me lol. Yea, Blue sea, some of that kit looks very good, but not from "those" people. I was totally thrown by the 48volt DC, so not good enough. Then I noticed all makes state this. So...

UK Copper Bus bars, where to buy?

Hi all, I've been looking at bus bars (for my sunsynk 5kw inverter and two lifpo4 batteries), on ebay and they look so small and weedy, and most likely brass not copper. So not really interested in anything from China. I did look on this forum for answers but no joy. I found a video showing a...

Solar panel rectifier? Do they exist?

Thanks for your input. Just to clarify, this 450-500volts voc he's talking about is the combined total of all solar panels, both arrays? I'm looking for new panels and when I find one with a good vmp the voc is way out. Edited: Ah, ok, I have found some :) But so far only 1 volt better than...

Solar panel rectifier? Do they exist?

This is why I got it wrong. Look at 3.30 about half way through the video. Did he mean to say vmp?

UK. Routing power cables from main consumer unit, to two garage units?

Thank you for the info SeaGal. That did cross my mind, a straight run from inverter to the main consumer unit. I had got some iffy info from another forum some years ago stating duel use was a good thing. That's not a problem, I have three armored cables to choose from, this actually makes life...

UK. Routing power cables from main consumer unit, to two garage units?

This is a bit of a daft question maybe, but one that has me pondering. From 63amp MCB in main consumer unit, 16mm2 armored cable running to the garage, in the garage there is a small consumer unit (lights & sockets) and the inverters own consumer unit / breaker box. Do I, A: Split the 16mm2...

Hybrid UPS needs Bi Directional RCD type B. Can't find one! UK.

Lol, £38 from Aliexpress or https://www.amazon.co.uk/ANIFM-Electric-Vehicle-Charging-Residual/dp/B0C6GD982T/ref=sr_1_214?crid=UGQ20K3JA5O6&keywords=type+B+rcd&qid=1690279246&sprefix=type+b+rcd,aps,79&sr=8-214 These have a problem with nuisance tripping.

Hybrid UPS needs Bi Directional RCD type B. Can't find one! UK.

Do you have this in your possession? Maybe you could post a link? I'm very skeptical, as I have seen type AC rcd's being sold with curve B mcb's, and being sold as type B. There are loads of second hand type B rcbo's on ebay. Our very honest electricians are selling them.

Hybrid UPS needs Bi Directional RCD type B. Can't find one! UK.

Nice, but not that nice that I would pay £4000+ just for four rcd's, then an arm and a leg for the rest of the Schneider kit. What exactly is wrong with Chint?

    UK consumer unit branding uniformity.

A bloke from the UK asked about this on this forum a month or two ago, but I can't find his post. Regarding consumer units. Here in the uk you must have all the rcd's, mcb's, switches, contactors and anything else you need, the same manufacturer branding; including the case. If this...

Hybrid UPS needs Bi Directional RCD type B. Can't find one! UK.

Hello, yep the word bidirectional is misleading but that is what Tongou (Chinese manufacture) used to describe current only in one direction, not backwards and forwards (reverse current). Feed at the top only, but as we use hybrid inverters that have current feeding the home, and then later...

Hybrid UPS needs Bi Directional RCD type B. Can't find one! UK.

Hi all, I have been looking for type B RCD's that are bi directional, as yet I have not found one. If you know of one then please let us know. EARU no Tongou no Geya no Etek no Chtai no I will edit this list as and when. Ok, it seems that no rcd's are bi directional. Ho hum.

A few breaker box questions, before I finish up. UK.

I'm getting close to finishing the installation, and I have some nagging questions. Probably best answered by a uk sparky :) Two consumer units / breaker boxes, the left box is for ups, the right is for mains. I'm also using a transfer switch in the right box that will by pass the inverter...

Are my old solar panels worth using?

When I look on ebay etc for panel specs, I find the half perc high power panels are only high power as their dimensions are massive. I can't find any high power panels that are the same or close size as my old panels. Panels that are the same dimensions seem top be a similar power out put as my...

Sunsynk, and a grid tie inverter input?

Edited: I have a sunsynk 5kw inverter, and I plan to use (as my 2nd array) my old 1.2kw panels and grid tie, facing east for the morning sun. What does the sunsynk require to work from the grid tie? Presumably, as the grid tie has it's own mppt, the sunsynk will start to work no matter what the...

Solar panel rectifier? Do they exist?

Sorry, I was a little rushed yesterday. 1st array: 6 panels 40 degs 180 south. These panels actually give out more than the stated info on the label. 2nd array: 5 panels 0 degs facing directly 90 east. I've not got these up yet, and it's these panels that I was hoping to adjust the voltage...

Sunsynk 5kw inverter - max ups Stand Alone amps

I did ask this question in another thread and got no reply, so please forgive me for asking again here, as it is important. If we try to use more than the 5000watts 21.7amps in a power cut, will it damage the inverter? Just because the ups has 32amps - 40amps going through it with pass...

Sunsynk 'Load' (UPS) limit when grid working?

Edited: Sorry to hijack your thing here. I didn't twig it before, I just went along with what the contradictory manual said, 40 amp mains breaker, and 40amps ups! 35amps ups depending on where in the manual you read it. How can this be if in a power cut we are limited to 5000 watts...

Sunsynk 'Load' (UPS) limit when grid working?

13amps going through a kettle. We had one of those kettles, and the socket burned out; twice. We changed to a 2000w 9amps, we didn't see any difference in boil time. No more burn outs :) As we have grid tie, we have got used to using only one utility at a time, washing machine, tumble dryer...

Sunsynk L5.1 batteries, where is the master/slave switch?

Ah ha, I guess the No'1 battery would be the one with the communication cable to inverter. That's interesting you say 40amp, Sunsynk recommend 50amp, I wonder if they are over stating the capability's of the equipment for the sake of sales. Thanks for the info :)

    Battery Breakers, which way around?

As breakers are bi directional, which way do I wire them up? I have a feeling that the top of the breaker, protects what is behind it. So inverter to the top of the big breaker. Also battery to the top of the small breakers. Or have I got this wrong? The cabinet was not such a hot idea...
