Differences between JuncTek KH and KL series shunts

Hi, I have the KL Series version and wondered what the differences were verses the KH series. One thing I found a little disappointing with the KL Series is that they do not make a shield for the sampler (I am doing a DIY version but would have preferred a factory designed and manufactured...

    DC to DC Buck Coverter

SeaGal, it is because that I am a neophyte to such equipment that I make poor decisions and choices .? Could I just connect 2 sockets to the buck-boost converter and supply both of my devices that way. Your kind help is much appreciated.

    DC to DC Buck Coverter

Thank you so much SeaGal, can I impose on you with another question please? I intend to supply another device to take power from the same battery that the buck-boost converter is to be connected to. I attach a photo relating to the device in question, should I use a voltage stabiliser (as...

    DC to DC Buck Coverter

Hi All and thanks for bearing with me. I purchased the buck convertr I linked to in Post #12, I have not put it to use as yet. I have since read that buck converters can have difficulty maintaining a claimed output voltage (in this case 12v) if the input voltage is at or very close to the...

    DC to DC Buck Coverter

Good point, when I am towing the caravan the tow vehicle charges the leisure battery at about 13.8 volts, I will isolate the auxiliary fuse box before driving off, I would make it a point to disconnect the router and stow it before travelling, but one can always forget .

    DC to DC Buck Coverter

Cheers for that, I will look into powering the router from a 2.5mm power socket. ?

    DC to DC Buck Coverter

SeaGal: Power source is 12v DC. Mister Sandals: I don't need to power the laptop\tablet, just the Router only. Horsefly: Your interpretation is correct, and the router requires 12v DC. I'm satisfied that my question has been answered and that a Buck Converter is not a the solution. I will just...

    DC to DC Buck Coverter

By way of explanation: I want to be able to power an appliance from 12v DC when off grid. I have read that a12v DC Plug and Socket (Cigarette lighter type) is not particularly safe in use. In my case it will be in a caravan (trailer) where I want to power a router for use with my...

    Fogstar LifePo4 charger 40amp

Hi MisterB1959 and thanks for the reply. I am using this battery in a caravan, I'm not sure of how feasible\practical it would be to install any of your suggested devices in my tow car, I am more than happy to be enlightened though :) .

    Fogstar LifePo4 charger 40amp

Mikefitz, you are obviously better informed than I am. May I ask where you find information such as that above on Fogstar batteries, my searches reveal very little in respedt of reviews or comments relating to Fogstar products. (BTW, I have now put the Victron charger on the top of my shopping...

    Fogstar LifePo4 charger 40amp

Thank you mikefitz. I do like Victron equipment, albeit expensive. My battery is a Fogstar 280 amp LifePo4, and ideally as I understand it, a 30 amp charger is a little short of optimal, hence my looking at a 40 amp charger, I was hoping that I might gain adequate control over the charging...

From not very sunny at all Scotland.

Thanks Hedges, I spent a large part of my childhood living in a house that was heated using peat fires, peat was also a cooking medium (along with bottled LPG for more controlled cooking requirements). I dried peat on bog land ( adults did the peat cutting), carried it out to the track in...

From not very sunny at all Scotland.

I'm very much into using solar already, the amount of energy I can harvest here (especially in winter) in Scotland is I acknowledge, rather limited. But i get by quite comfortably with my set up, I am about to make a few changes and looking forward to find out what those changes will bring.

    Fogstar LifePo4 charger 40amp

    Flexible solar panel stand.

I'm looking for ideas to construct a lightweight stand for a 180w flexible solar panel, can anyone point me to some solutions? I will be regularly re-positioning it to follow the sun when off grid touring. Thanks.
