40KW 2019 Nissan Leaf SL Battery (Gen4) For Sale In Canada - Could Be Repurposed for Solar

Client dropped off a Nissan Leaf battery and asked us to help find it a new home. Its a 40KW Model, 91.23AH, 332.02 Volts - 79.03% State of Health. Apparently these are pricey units, over 20K Canadian for a refurbished one from the dealer. Open to offers, we can ship hazardous goods.

I would not pay more than 1.5x scrap value for this battery. It's at the end of life with 80% capacity remaining. You will get some useful cells to use for energy storage for some time but this battery will not last as long as new LFP battery.

If this was a reman battery why would it be showing less than 80%. Also the photo of 07/04/23 must be for something else?

Yeah, kinda like going onto a lawnmower forum and someone has a vortec 350 crate motor for sale, is the immediate thought I had. I'm relatively new to the forum, poking around here and there. Just seeing a full on EV battery for sale here is interesting is all. Wouldn't it be great if we had a dc to dc converter/transformer/whatever so we could plug this into our 48v systems as is? That would be something. Closest I can think to do..... is connect this to an MPPT for getting energy out of at 400v...... Its threads like this where I can imagine stuff like that... So, its interesting to see, yep.

How much is scrap price for EV NMC batteries?
Where can I scrap them?
I can't seam to find a local yard [Denver] that is interested in them.

Good question. I tried researching scrap value of EV packs and there is none so far. In this case I would offer to pick up this battery for free. I just saw on ebay 75 kWh 94% SOH battery go for under $2000. That's less than $26/kWh for relatively new EV battery.

So it's 32KWHR and would need a bespoke interface, or I can buy brand new EG4 PP batteries at $3600 for 14.4KWHR.

We are in Manitoba, its a clients battery, based on the test results we know that 4 cells are weak which should be contained in 2 or 3 of the 2S/2P modules (there are actually 192 cells in the pack) once those are removed from the equation the remaining cells will be quite good. Valueing the battery is difficult, we know refurbed Gen 4 Nissan Leaf replacements are $20,000, and have seen the modules selling for $400-500 a piece on Ebay. I just haven't had time to tear it apart. Make us offer and we can go from there.
