Battery Protector : overpriced ?

Appreciate the OUT OF THE BOX thinking , its a good idea i like the idea of
although im not sure what "idle losses" mean

i have ordered a victron one to experiment with if that fails i shall
dig deeper into the AC relay idea

Im just surprised there is not a cheaper brand / generic unit that does
the same job as the victron one

Idle losses is the amount of energy consumed by the inverter just to be on. Some of them can use quite a bit of wattage doing nothing but powering themselves.
