And for some unfathomable reason you are upset people in the fast food industry in California get $20 per hour.
no we see the government stepping into the economic fray in a way that will destroy jobs and destroy business, thats what we see. we know this to be true in the simple fact that several calfornia specific food chains have already said they are closing. one with over a hundred locations, as they cannot pay the workers that much and survive.

students don't get full wages for the same work adults do)
Says who?

Under capitalism, any employer would/should pay the absolute minimum they can get away with and ask for the most amount of output from their employees. Loyalty, like profit sharing is nice, but should not expected. It is quite understandable and likewise, employees could counter that by forming collectives (unions) to force better working conditions and pay from those employers or they could vote for politicians that legislate in their interest. Just like business owners vote for politicians that further their interests.

Now we can discus the merits of this minimum wage having the potential benefit for the smaller family owned restaurants who might get more business if the prices for McDonalds go up, if they go up at all. Or how more money in the bottom half of the economy spurs on economic growth more than tax cuts for the wealthy. But we can keep it simple and be happy for the people earning $20 per hour while it lasts as those jobs will most likely be automated by the end of the decade anyway.
I see you can use Google and Quora.
Do you have any thoughts of your own or were you just going to plagiarize the whole internet?

California minimum wage is $16 for everyone.
Now explain to me in your infinite wisdom how mom and pop are gonna compete?

So now the lower tax people are making $20hour.
Are they gonna open businesses to replace the ones that close since according to you “ The bottom half of the economy spurs growth”

You still don’t get the only thing that is happening is more people are getting laid off and less people hired because of this.

That $20 hour raise just put more people out of work.
The business that didn’t close moved the cost to consumers so how much did they actually get?
Nothing.

“Each of the 15 laid-off employees was given a $2,000 severance.

The locations of the other four Mod Pizza franchises in California that were recently shuttered were not available.
That’s 60 people.

Former assistant general manager Monica Navarro at Fosters Freeze in Lemoore, California, says the team felt “shock” learning the restaurant closed Monday due to the new minimum wage law.
30 more

Pizza Hut announced cuts to more than 1,200 delivery jobs. previous reporting by USA TODAYshows. Some Pizza Hut franchises in California also filed notices with the state saying they were discontinuing their delivery services .

1200 more.

Excalibur Pizza, a franchisee of Round Table Pizza, has plans to cut 73 driver jobs in April, which amounts to 21% of its workforce, the company confirmed with USA TODAY Wednesday.

73 more

Chipotle's CFO told Yahoo Finance that the company will be forced to increase their prices to comply with the minimum wage increase.

That’s just 30 seconds of Google.
And it just started Monday.
How many more will close by next year or be laid off?

Thanks to supply shortages due to a shutdown of factories in China, last minute supply chains are a bitch.
Jesus Christ. Shutdowns in China are driving inflation in the US are you hearing yourself?
Have you ever considered that it is you who lacks critical thinking? I have and I check my information from other sources.
No you checked MSM. TV or not you are getting and spewing propaganda.

You guys are parroting unsubstantiated claims you find on social media. And for some unfathomable reason you are upset people in the fast food industry in California get $20 per hour.
No we owned business for years.
We know how they run and what affects them unlike you.

What needs to be asked is does bong bong as in pot head …. Think that everyone should be paid the same….regardless of education and job skills. Should elon must make $20 an hour? Just example. 🤡🥷🏻

The gdp is grown by private sector. Govt jobs is a negative. We are spending more then we will ever get back under biden …

It knows ppl lost jobs due to shut down…. Then it knows ppl went back to work under biden which got counted as jobs when they allowed it to open back up. Covid lock downs was merely a smear campaign for election rule changes and economic theft of $5+ trillion dollars. The theft with Green Deal is also on top.

Ppl like gates are getting richer.

yep three or four decades from now whatever country wins the race they will regard this plandemic as a major contributor to the downfall of most western civilizations.

Says who?

Says U.S. dept of labour.

I see you can use Google and Quora.

I use google a lot, you should try it, Quora rarely as I get too much nonsense in the additional answers.

Do you have any thoughts of your own or were you just going to plagiarize the whole internet?

Plenty of my own thoughts, although with over 8 billion people on this planet, who can say our thoughts are not influenced by others?

California minimum wage is $16 for everyone.

The minimum wage seems very low, is that really enough to live on?

Now explain to me in your infinite wisdom how mom and pop are gonna compete?

When the prices (if they go up at all) for fast food restaurant chains go up, the family owned business might be able to better compete with them right?

So now the lower tax people are making $20hour.
Are they gonna open businesses to replace the ones that close since according to you “ The bottom half of the economy spurs growth”

Investing money in the top and the bottom spurs growth, however investing in the bottom half is more effective. You should look into that, it's a fascinating subject.

You still don’t get the only thing that is happening is more people are getting laid off and less people hired because of this.

No employer is going to have more people working for them then they actually need. Their competition would run circles around them.

That $20 hour raise just put more people out of work.

This time last year McDonald's laid of staff and demoted people, it doesn't matter if people earn 2 dollars a day or 20 dollars an hour, no businesses will hire some one they do not need.

People WILL loose their jobs because of the rise of AI and the advent of robots. And there are even more disruptions coming in the markets and this is going to be a very interesting decade.

The business that didn’t close moved the cost to consumers so how much did they actually get?
Nothing.
I am so tired of that argument, it might work on people who don't understand how free market capitalism works... A more honest statement would be something like, businesses don't only move costs to the consumers, they also expect the consumers to pay for all of the profits as well.

McDonalds have been increasing prices by 20$ over the last 2 years and posted 14.5 billion in profits last year, that is a 10% increase over the previous year. Another reason people call the current inflation greedflation.

Jesus Christ. Shutdowns in China are driving inflation in the US are you hearing yourself?
Yeah, manufacturing in the West went to China because wages were so much lower over there, have you been living under a rock?

And wages go up

No you checked MSM. TV or not you are getting and spewing propaganda.
There is no way you could possibly know where I get my the majority of my information unless I told you. Now if you want to be helpful and quoted some reliable sources to support your assertions. Economics is a difficult enough subject as it is and even those on the top disagree.

No we owned business for years.
We know how they run and what affects them unlike you.
I do know how businesses run and how fragile they can be especially when they don't have enough starting capital. But I don't feel bad for McDonalds and I am happy for the Employees making higher, but still minimum wages. Why aren't you happy for them?

The minimum wage seems very low, is that really enough to live on?
In Japan the minimum wage is ¥1080/hour. that works out to $7.44/hour.

its not the number that matters its how the government of the particular country manages interest rates and inflation. japanese banks have stupidly low lending rates. 2% for a $350,000 house loan for 30 years. but they pay squat for interest on savings. inflation is held down and the minimum wage stays low.

part of the problem is the rampart consumerism in the US. this makes everyone think that they should have a $1500 cell phone along with a 90" big screen in a 3400' McMansion...

so a $16 an hour minimum wage is more than enough. if you live your life in a reasonable fashion. but wasting thousand's of dollars on weaves, tatoo's junk jewlry and overpriced cell phones, and then complaining about not being able to make ends meet? fuck off.

Says U.S. dept of labour.
Well that’s BS.

The minimum wage seems very low, is that really enough to live on?
Spoken like a guy who never run a business.
Yes it’s plenty because they are starter jobs NOT permanent flunky jobs.
They are MINIMUM WAGE for ZERO EXPERIENCE.

Don’t have to. We lived it. Know what works and what doesn’t.

No employer is going to have more people working for them then they actually need. Their competition would run circles around them.
As usual you miss the point entirely.

This time last year McDonald's laid of staff and demoted people, it doesn't matter if people earn 2 dollars a day or 20 dollars an hour, no businesses will hire some one they do not need.
Total clueless. Totally off point.

You got that from VOX.com
A leftist rag and article about this very subject.

I certainly don’t but millions do.
They must not care how much money they make.

No they went to China because of NAFTA and other agreements stupid fucking politicians made to screw us over.

So our food cost, fuel cost and housing cost all went up because of China?

You are dumber than shit.
Stop while your behind.

Sure I can it’s called PLAGIARISM checker just like I found your little BS lies about MCdonalds.

I do know how businesses run and how fragile they can be especially when they don't have enough starting capital. But I don't feel bad for McDonalds and I am happy for the Employees making higher, but still minimum wages. Why aren't you happy for them?
I’m not talking about startups and here you go again with FEEWLINGs.
Happy.
Are you happy they don’t have a job anymore?

You just conveniently ignore all the business closings in CA and the layoffs.

Worry about you own frigin country and we will worry about ours.

For most part think you guys are talking to Leo name sake just a new name. Same child like mentality and same arguments. Same off shore foreign voice.

Standards have been low pay for food preparations - never paid much. However it reads like bongbong …says it doesn’t do drugs and wants everyone to make same living wages. … communism.

So does bongo bongo live in a socialist - communist country.

Some drive thru are wanting tips now - not McDonalds yet but probably coming. In the past a drive thru never got tips. The tips were for wait staff with seated service. I’ve noticed how drive through pushes up size and additional items. I sometimes buy bbq at mom and pop restaurants - drive thru. Remember just few years back ppl in food industry wanted $15.00 an hour. Just been few years now want $20 an hour. 🤡

People want top dollar for no work and no experience right out of the gate.

You see it all the time with these liberals kids on Social Media.

“I got 4 degrees and they want me to take an entry level job” huff puff no way I’m better than that.

“In the meantime I’m going clubbing and buy some new stuff!!”

Now you got people who want to flip burgers drive a Mercedes and a McMansion.

Can’t wait for the whole economy to collapse so these people will get a huge wake up call when they won’t know where their next meal is coming from.

Maybe then they will appreciate business that employs them.

Everyone of them will be screaming “ Government Help me!!”

Just sick and tired of this stupidity.

Who "revealed" that?

Under Biden the economy added nearly 15 million jobs, 6 million more than were lost under Trump due to the pandemic. The only president who did worse than Trump was Herbert Hoover during the great depression. At this rate it looks like Biden is going to have the highest job growth in US history, beating Franklin Roosevelt by a large margin.

The way I understand it is that even thought unemployment is still below 4%, unemployment went up as there are more people looking for work who had previously stopped looking. I would have expected both sides to welcome that development. What I would be concerned about is that inflation is still higher than the increase in wages.

Why are you so interested in ..... and want to influence American politics? You sound just like Leo.

Why do you hide what country you are from? Why don't you engage in politics in your own country and stay out of ours?

Best question if they think $20 is not lot of money for cooking McDonalds style food then what do they do and how much do they make an hour in their communist - socialist country.

I 100% agree the ceo is way over paid…. At McDonalds. Who negotiated that deal? 🤡🤣 Fast food cook was never meant be life time career. It was suppose be hs kids and such. 1st job as they were working on education for career fields. Since all other basic jobs left they took to it as such…permanent job. Bill Clinton and following killed our economy Jobs left. I remember woman complaining to Bush 2nd about working 2 jobs barely making it and he turned it stated “ain’t it great you can find 2 jobs? “ Never acknowledged he complaint. I did not like him….he did the wrong game plan with 9-11…. Obuma more crap.

Trump brought some jobs back. Stopped some from leaving. Bidens plan to tax the shit out of them means leaving.

Well that’s BS.
I agree, every one should be paid at least the minimum wage.

Spoken like a guy who never run a business.

They are minimum wage because employers would pay even less if they could get away with it, I know I would.

So everyone is going to a mom
And pops now eh?
Grow up.
Of course not, but some people will switch if they discover they can get better food at competitive prices. And the owners might end up with a little exra money in their pockets.

you so tired of because it’s true. Try owning a business or reading something other than propaganda.
I am tired of it because it is only half the story, just like we pay for their profits is only half the story that is told by the other side.

It’s NOT free market when the government MANDATES wages!!
It's not free market when the government enforces contracts, prevents thefts, prohibits companies to pollute, maim and kill in their pursuit of profits? The free market doesn't exist and for good reason.

Free market provides a product people want.

You pay for that privilege.
That is how capitalism works.

I don't go to VOX for my news either.

You guys were hating on people in the fast food business earning at least $20 per hour, a job no one here wants to take at that rate. I did some research to see if the $20 was excessive for the US and found a country with comparable purchasing power paying even higher wages and saw that the CEO of McDonald's earned nearly 500 times that.

Why can't you be happy for those people?
