Hallo, All.

I can't seem to find a "Basics of..." document for mounting Rails and Solar Panels.

It would seem to make sense to mount the Panels right up to each other (with appropriate clamps in between), eliminating gaps and using sensible alignment.

However, I think there's more to it than that.

E.G, I've seen a picture of Solar Panels with thermal damage/burning, but never really seen it mentioned - there must be room for expansion in Summer.

Does anyone have a link to a decent guide?

No link.

The info I read says 1/4" gap minimum. I also talked about getting solar panels as a veranda, and the contractor says they did build those, and he did say they need to leave a gap so these would be no good for rain.

Understood (1/4" gap).

However, if the clamp is adequately torqued, wouldn't that mitigate expansion anyway, regardless of the gap?
