How can I know how much (lifepo4) battery is used and also how much solar I am harvesting over x time?

The mt50 doesnt seem much help here.

It just shows how many watts you are bringing in but what does it pertain to? I was told it is "real time" but then what use it that? I want to know how much I am drawing and saving over x time to be able to calculate efficacy.

Also how much is in the battery to again calculate how much has been charged. I have seen mention of "victron smart shunt" but must I buy yet another, probably expensive, device just to achieve this?

I never checked them against a Victron, but they will give you an answer. Its all about the shunt on the battery.
