I figured, the easiest would be slap a new agm in an old jump box, and slap a USB port on it... so I did.

two port usb 2.1A output, with 12v cigarette lighter style socket... and a 450W inverter... it has a switch for the dead air compressor, I attached to the USB ports... I am thinking of attaching a harbor freight charge controller, and tie to a pair of panels, so she can recharge it during the day, if she loses power...

Looks good!
Not too expensive. Does the job.
Would also make a good starter system for someone (probably not your Mom) wanting to dip a toe in the water and start learning something about solar and batteries. Sure beats spending $1000's on X and then wondering what to do with it!

What size lead acid battery did you get? I made the mistake of buying one too small and it wouldn't even power a 150W inverter and some yard lights!

The dead cell that was in the case was a 7Ah, I installed a 22Ah... it should hold her a while...

What would be the practical use for a unit like this .When I think of a power failure what comes to mind is my refirgerator , the freezer and our well water pump. I seems to me that just he fridge alone would use up most of the battery power in just a few hours.
If its for charging my cell phone, I can do that in my car.
What am I missing?

Lights and tv... her most important commodity...

freezer and well would be next on the list, and I’m working on a setup for that with another pair of devices... I have a 3KWh BYD attached to a 2400W 230v all in one inverter I have setup for UPS configuration... so it will switch to battery when the power fails, and power her well.

I have a 750W UPS I will connect to her chest freezer... so, baby steps...
