I have a 2000 watt Renogy inverter installed in a small travel trailer, its 2 years old, light use no problems.
Today when cleaning up some wiring I noticed the inverter can power up (switch on) when the main DC negative is disconnected.
All that was connected was DC positive and the case ground.

The case ground runs to a common ground bus which is tied to the main DC negative bus.
The ground bus is tied to the trailer chassis at a single point.

Appears the inverter has the case ground tied to the DC side inside the inverter.

Is this normal for inverters? Would the case ground be tied to the AC and DC side internally?
