Hello All, we have a grid-tied system consisting of PAN32 solar tiles going through PW370 power optimizers to a SE7K hybrid inverter connected to a 10.2kWh BYD battery bank. We were quite surprised to discover that during power outages that the batteries aren't usable, as the system is currently configured. We live in a relatively remote area and power outages are fairly common. When we asked the company that installed the system (I know, this is a DIY forum) about this they said it was quite complicated and dangerous (duh, we don't want to feed power back into the grid during outages) to do this. We have since learned about automatic transfer switches (had we known when the system installed that the batteries were switched off during a power outage before we would have asked about this.)
So - my question: can we retrofit an ATS to our inverter? If so, what do we need to buy?
